Holley Sniper tuning this week. "They don't make them like they used to!"

After only 40k miles, a direct injection engine can have pretty severe build up on the intake ports and valves. Here you can see a before/after pictures after a walnut blasting we performed.

An air/oil separator will certainly help slow down this build up, but it does not stop it completely. Walnut blasting should be considered "routine maintenance" on any direct injection engine that does not have a secondary port injection.

In some extreme cases (usually 80-100k miles or more), customers report gaining back 2-3mpg and we've seen some dyno tests realize a gain of nearly 20whp after a proper port cleaning!
