Often I find myself deeply connecting and resonating with the stories of people in my workshops. Kysha was one of the folks that made my heart zing the first workshop she came to, and then she came back twice more! When I got this email from her after one our times together, I danced around the room.
“Thank you for creating a safe space for us to step forward, and practice displaying our gently cloaked (not quite raw) humanity in tender community. You’ve encouraged us to stretch and to seek the pivotal shift, the change, in our stories. From victim to victor, harmed to heroic owner of our tales, I am now on a quest to see the deeper me in my story. Where the question use to be, “Why was that done to me?” - to now going further along the path towards the intersection of “how has That changed me?” That, has clearly become an identifiable character in my life, That, capital T.”

Happy Earth Day! 🌍
Thanks to a new friendship, I've been walking several mornings a week at the same place. It's been a minute since I've had a consistent walking buddy. So important to be able to deepen a relationship to a place over time, observe the seasons changing, watch how the animals and trees shift their patterns, literally touch grass.
Hope you're able to get outside and return thanks to this precious planet that connects us all.
p.s. My next cycle of workshops with will include one about climate grief / our relationship with the natural world.

Stopped by a friend's office this week and was struck by this sign she'd made for herself. I found it to be such a poignant reminder that our real work in the world doesn't happen over email or even zoom meetings. What's something you can do today to challenge yourself to get out into the real world and tell a new story?

This weekend, I had the pleasure of opening for my dear friend, Thomas Bell, as he launched his full-length keynote, "The Tempest, The Train Porter, and the Temple of Trees." As I was doing a cutting of , together we became "a tempest & a teapot!"
Tom's talk is so good, y'all! Please consider booking him for corporate gigs and retreats. So much generous, heart-led leadership in his words and insights.

Taking my Storytelling to a new place with a new collaborator, the dreamy
We're making Teapot, the movie!!
It's intense, y'all. I'm having to learn a whole new style of acting. Acting for screen is more intimate and vulnerable than when you're in stage mode with big gestures and trying to engage a hundred people all at once. I like it, but it's a new muscle to build.
Imminently grateful for the opportunity to work with this incredibly gifted and accomplished and visionary human who is midwifing this performance from me.

Sometimes, you feel like your work is 'supposed to' feel like work, but when it's just so full of love and respect and good vibes all around, you just know you're living your purpose. When I got these kind words back from Karimah Dillard about our work together to bring forth stories for Stand with Survivors Day at the State Capitol, I got to relive all that tremendous pride and passion for my work once again...
“It has truly been a pleasure working with Shannon. She approached her craft with such care, intention, and a deep commitment to trauma-informed practice. By creating a space safe enough for survivors to share their stories, she was able to bring forward the stories that were already inside of them in a way that felt safe, empowering and authentic. Beyond her skill, she was a delight to work with, bringing warmth, respect and compassion to every interaction.”

Final life maps workshop at The Grief House is coming up Tuesday evening, 4/7 @ 7p. As much as it's about grief, honestly, this work has been such a joy. We've gone on so many adventures together through the tender "substrait" griefs of love & relationships, money & abundance, and body stuff. Now, for our final week, the big kahuna... death & dying. You've lost someone, probably multiple someones. Perhaps you are grappling with your own mortality. Let's get together and pull those losses and anticipatory anxieties into a story we can triumphantly tell.

Today is . Yes, it's also the Vernal Equinox too. But, on this day, I'm thinking about the power of storytelling, for good and for bad. Storytelling is being weaponized in a lot of ways. We must become like Jedis, using the force for good. I invite you to reconnect with the StoryMuse mission if there's a way I might be in service to you, your team, your mission, your community, and serving your vision for the future...
