Consistent brand messaging is key! When you form a brand identity and visual language, staying consistent makes for a streamlined and user-friendly experience. Within a single business, staying true to brand is fairly simple- but what happens when you try to tie two businesses or initiatives together?

In Creative Mischief’s engagement with Cobb Chamber, we designed two unique websites under the same branding. Our challenge was this: to create a cohesive user experience, tying the two sites together, while keeping each site unique and with separate purpose. During our work on SelectCobb, Cobb Chamber’s economic development initiative, we created engaging brand language revolving around Cobb County's winning team and ideal location, emphasizing that Cobb is open for business, and showing relocating businesses how to become a part of the Cobb community.

Working with the Kenai Peninsula Borough on the Ready, Set, Go! emergency preparedness campaign gave Creative Mischief an opportunity to engage with a unique group of people and a unique challenge– and we are proud to have created a campaign that makes a difference.

Since its kick-off in January 2023, 65% of surveyed participants from all 37 Kenai communities have signed up for emergency notifications as a result of the campaign. Only 30 days after deployment, 56% of the Kenai population was reached by the Ready, Set, Go! campaign, a staggering feat given the expanse and diverse nature of the Kenai communities, and several jurisdictions have requested the use of the program, including all volunteer, local, and federal fire management officers on the Kenai Peninsula. As of November 2023, the state of Alaska is discussing adapting the campaign state-wide, with unanimous support from the Alaska Fire Chiefs Association.

“The Kenai Peninsula Borough, Alaska – a municipal government that provides services to an area larger than the state of Maryland – challenged Creative Mischief (CM) to create an emergency preparedness campaign that is easily adapted to the diverse cultural populations of the borough. From Russian, Old Believer communities, Tribal villages or the cities founded on rich homestead values, CM not only exceeded our expectations, but they also provided products for public outreach that we had not considered. The CM team established a personalized working relationship that was an essential to creating the final products; employing CM was a solid decision to clearly reflect our informational needs.”
--Brenda Ahlberg, Emergency Manager, Kenai Peninsula Borough, Alaska

Building brand, website and strategy for the built environment.

In the early stages of our engagement with FEA, Creative Mischief noted a disconnect between FEA’s current branding and language and how its clients and employees spoke of the company. In order to gain a more accurate representation of FEA from their clients and employees, we conducted a thorough interview process, gathering first-hand stories about FEA and compiling them.

During these interviews, we found that clients and employees spoke of the FEA team positively and warmly, which differed from their original brand language and feel.

Our goal throughout this rebranding was to take these insights and FEA’s positive community reputation and use it as the foundation for a strong, vibrant, truthful brand.

At Creative Mischief, we know that marketing is more than advertisement- marketing is connection. In our engagement with the Kenai Peninsula Borough, we worked to create an emergency preparedness campaign that could span a collection of small, remote communities with little in common, keeping natural disasters from becoming catastrophes.

Our marketing strategy created the Kenai “Ready, Set, Go!” campaign, designed to convey emergency preparedness information and connect communities with few established means of communication.

Here’s how we did it:
âś… Outlining each audience, the communications needed, and messaging for each phase, from initial campaign awareness, education, preparing, when an emergency hits, and returning home.
âś… Creating engaging brand and marketing materials that form a cohesive message.
âś… Bringing the campaign to life through community outreach, social media, radio, and a poster campaign used at trailheads, cruise destinations, and hotels.

Since 1992, Facility Engineering Associates (FEA) has helped clients improve the way they manage, operate, maintain, and fund the built environment to enable safer, more resilient, and cost-effective facilities. Creative Mischief partnered with FEA to define and build a lasting brand, website and marketing that aligned with the organization’s values.

After helping FEA uncover key disconnects between employee and audience brand perception and its current brand offering, we worked with FEA to create a new brand strategy, new vision, mission and team values and a fresh brand personality.
