Denny Lucas scorched the demanding Echelon layout with rounds of 68 and 66 to finish at ten under par and capture the Hopkins Golf Peach State Pro Tour's Echelon Classic sponsored by Wild Wing Cafe of Alpharetta.
It was a long, hot day as the players had to endure a 36 hole event in one day due to inclement weather. The victory for Lucas, his third on the Peach State Pro Tour, capped a great week for Denny. He also qualified for the sectionals of the U.S. Open. Wade Binfield and Chip Deason tied for second at eight under par. Deason closed with a 69 in the second round, Binfield with a 67. Brett Munson and Jay McLuen round out the top five a seven under par, three behind Lucas. McLuen and Binfield also qualified for the U.S. Open sectionals...The Hopkins Peach State Pro Tour would like to wish all of our members who qualified the best of luck in next week sectional qualifiers.
The tour travels to Bradshaw Farm in Woodstock next week for the second leg of the Wild Wing Cafe Alpharetta Series. Tournament play begins on Wednesday, May 29th.

Jay McLuen fired a five under par 67 to overcome a 2 stroke deficit and capture the Hopkins Golf Peach State Pro Tour's Georgia Club Classic. McLuen finished the three day event at fourteen under par, four shots ahead of second place finisher Kyle Scott. Scott fired a final round 68. Wade Binfield finished in third place, five shots back after a final round 69. Mike Van Sickle finished in fourth, six shots behind McLuen. A special thanks to the staff of the Georgia Club...the course was in outstanding condition, many of the participants raved about the shape of the course.
The tour is off next week for U.S. Open Qualifying and will return May 16-18 at The Lion in Breman Ga. Full results available at www.pspgt.com

Nick Newcomb fired a final round six under par 66 to capture the Hopkins Golf Peach State Pro Tour Monroe Classic. Newcomb finished at ten under par for the two days, taking home his first victory on the Peach State Pro Tour. Morgan Dobbins finished in second place, one shot behind Newcomb. Dobbins had opportunities to tie Newcomb on the final two holes but just missed his birdies. Casey Johnson finished in third place, four shots back. Johnson had rounds of 68 and 70. A group of four players, Jay McLuen, Mark Silvers, Chip Deason and Joe Young all finished in a tie for fourth place, five shots behind Newcomb. The Hopkins Golf Peach State Pro Tour moves on to the Georgia Club next week in Athens. The tournament will begin on Tuesday, the day after the Monday qualifier for the Web.Com Athens Classic. The PSPGT all time leading money winner, Mark Silvers fired a five under par 67 and is in a three way tie for first place after one round of the Hopkins Golf Peach State Pro Tour Monroe Classic. Jay McLuen and Morgan Dobbins joined Silvers at five under and are one shot ahead of a group of three players that includes Wesley Bryan, Casey Johnson and Nick Newcomb. Three other players, Chip Deason, Brandon Cobb and Brickyard Classic winner Josh Geary are two shots back at three under. Hopkins Golf Company was founded by Greg Hopkins. Hopkins was the former CEO of Cleveland Golf Company from 1997 to 2012. During his tenour as CEO, Cleveland/Srixon Golf Company saw their sales increase five fold. Many players are familar with Cleveland Golf Company, mainly because of the wedges that forged the brand of the Company in the late 90's and 2000's. Cleveland Golf Company, under Hopkins leadership, became the number 1 wedge company on the PGA Tour in 1998. They were one of the first companies to create different lofts and grinds on their wedges for players. With the formation of Hopkins Golf Company, Greg looks to combine his knowledge and leadership skills into creating a first class golf manufacturer. Hopkins will begin sales to the public in June. Jimmy Brandt shot a pair of 67's to capture the 2013 PSPGT Jennings Mill Classic in Bogart, GA. Brandt, the two time PSPGT leading money winner caught fire on the front nine today with a six under par thirty. He cruised home from there for a ten under par total and a two shot victory over Chip Deason. Deason fired a sixty six today. Robbie "Shank" Biershenk came in third place after rounds of sixty eight and seventy. Three players tied for fourth place, Jay McLuen, Matt McNutt and Scott Melton, all finished at one under par for the event. The PSPGT moves on to Monroe Georgia for the Monroe Classic next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Josh Geary of New Zealand fired a final round three under par 69 in tough conditions to hold off Wade Binfield and capture the 2013 PSPGT Wild Wing Cafe Classic. Geary, a Nationwide Tour veteran, came from four shots down to grab the title. With bad weather forecast for tomorrow, the PSPGT decided to play 36 holes today to finish the 54 hole event. Players teed off at 8:00 this morning and the afternoon round began play at 2:00. The bad weather came early in the final round as players had to again deal with cool wet conditions for most of the final round. Kyle Scott began the final round with a two shot lead at three under par but ran into trouble on the sixteenth hole. A double bogey left him two behind Geary. Kyle finished in a tie for third place with Denny Lucas. Wade Binfield had a final round one under 71 and had a real good chance for birdie on the final hole to tie Geary but his putt did a 180 degree lip out. Binfield finished in second place for the second consecutive week but he was the overall all winner of the Wild Wing Cafe Macon Series Bonus. Binfield earned $4500 for the series and takes home a bonus of $700. Kyle Scott finished second in the bonus pool to take home a bonus of $400. Jon Kennedy, last weeks winner at Hawkinsville finished in third place in the bonus pool and takes home a bonus of $290. The PSPGT will be off next week before heading to Athens Georgia for the Jennings Mill Classic on April 15th and 16th.
Kyle Scott fired a three under par sixty nine to take a one shot lead after the first round of the Brickyard Classic in Macon, Ga. Josh Geary is one back after a two under seventy, Jay McLuen is two shots back at one under. Only three players managed to break par today on the tough Brickyard at Riverside layout. Five players are at even par, but 16 players are within five shots of the lead heading into tomorrows second round. Due to the dire weather forecast for Thursday, the tour will play 36 holes tomorrow to complete the event. The low 14 players and ties will compete in the final round tomorrow afternoon with the winner taking home $5500. Great times had tonight at the sponsor meet and greet at Wild Wing Cafe in Macon. Jon Kennedy wins the 2013 PSPGT Southern Hills Classic with a two day total of three under par. Kennedy fought off a tough field and brutal weather conditions as low temps and high winds made playing conditions extremely tough. Kennedy opened with a four under par 68 and finished today at 73 to edge out Wade Binfield by one shot. Both players shared or held the lead during a back and forth final round. Kennedy holed a three foot par put for the win after Binfield's bid to get up and down on the final hole just missed. This was the second year in a row that Binfield finished in 2nd at Southern Hills. Joe Young and Denny Lucas both fired one under par 71 today and finished in a tie for third place, two behind Kennedy. Brett Lange rounds out the top five after a one over par finish...very solid play considering the very tough condtions. The PSPGT moves onto the Brickyard at Riverside for the final leg of the Wild Wing Cafe Macon series. Play begins Tuesday in the fifty four hole event.
Jon Kennedy shot a four under par 68 in tough condtions to grab a one shot lead after the first round of the PSPGT Southern Hills Classic. Kennedy had five birdies against one bogey on a cold and windy day at Southern Hills Plantation. Players were greeted with forty degree temperatures and thirty mile an hour winds to start the day. Temps stayed cool and the wind blew hard all day. Wade Binfield, who shot the course record (61) in last years event, had the only other under par round in the field today with a three under 69 and is one back heading into tomorrows final round. Jay McLuen heads a group of four players at even par including Denny Lucas, Al Jernigan and Joe Young. This tournament is the second event in the Wild Wing Cafe Macon series. Kyle Scott finishes eagle, birdie on the final two holes to capture the 2013 PSPGT River Forest Kickoff Classic. Scott had rounds of sixty-five and seventy to finish at seven under par, two better than Jay McLuen. McLuen fired a four under par sixty-seven in the final round to take second. Denny Lucas, with a three under par sixty-eight took third place. Brett Lange grabs fourth place and Wade Binfield rounds out the top five. Up next for the PSPGT is the Southern Hills Classic in Hawkinsville, GA. This is the second leg of three in the Wild Wing Cafe Macon Series. Entry Deadline is Wednesday, March 20 at 5:00pm EST.
