Will you lose 44 years of adventures?

Americans will lose ~21-44 years ‼️ of their life to screen time, according to recent, varied reporting.

Not hiking. Not running. Not wine tasting. Not connecting over a dinner party, or stepping out on a first date. Not dancing at an outdoor concert. Not sharing coffee with a mentor or friend. Screens.

Between 21 to 44 years on average will be spent in each American’s lifetime looking at screens of different sizes, swiping, scrolling, comparing, distracting, detaching.

Disheartening? Yes.
Fixable? Also yes. 🙌🏼

Necessary for many of us to earn a living? True. But not necessary to the extent in which we worship our phones.

Folks crave community and IRL connection more than ever. Odds are, your friends, colleagues, family members, loose connections are all just as eager to reclaim energy and build memories outside of the confines of overstimulating time online.

Should technology be villainized? Not necessarily, no. That’s not the point being made.

Should we question and resist structures that steal joy and potential, while spiking anxiety and depression, while ultimately making corporations big money through addictive (intentional) structures?

Yes.

The irony is not lost that this sentiment is being shared via social media.

In 2026: let’s prioritize being together, offline, in person. Reach out for a weekend hike with that acquaintance you know loves the outdoors too. Ask your crush out for a yoga date at the new studio in town. Send a piece of snail mail to your grandma.

You won’t regret it.
