A huge thank you as well to the City of Roswell and Roswell Cultural Arts Center for supporting this concert and giving us the opportunity to bring this production to the stage. 💛

We’re also grateful to 11Alive and East by Southeast for helping share and promote this concert with the community.

This second half of PLAY featured four original rock-inspired works for Chinese instruments, along with *Sway*, *Bella Ciao*, the jazz classic *Spain*, and the recent hit *Golden* from *KPop Demon Hunters*. 🎸✨

From guzheng and dizi to live band, jazz, rock, and pop influences, this is exactly what PLAY is about: ancient instruments, modern energy.

Today, Magic Eastern Ensemble had the opportunity to share our upcoming concert, PLAY: VOICES OF AAPI, on 11Alive.

We are grateful for this opportunity to introduce our work during AAPI Heritage Month and to share the vision behind this concert: bringing traditional instruments into today’s live music world, connecting cultures through sound, and creating a space where music can build understanding beyond language.

PLAY: VOICES OF AAPI brings together guzheng, bamboo flute, live band, and cross-cultural collaboration in a contemporary concert experience.

Thank you to 11Alive for helping us share this story with the Atlanta community.

We are excited to introduce Hannah Liu, one of the young performers featured in VOICES OF AAPI｜PLAY Concert Series by Magic Eastern Ensemble.

Hannah is a 10th grader at Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia. She began studying music at age five, with training in piano, violin, and the Chinese zither, guzheng.

In 2024, she received the Absolute Winner Award at the International Youth Music Competition and earned the Grade 10 Guzheng Certification, the highest level awarded by the Central Conservatory of Music in China. She was also invited to perform at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music in New York City and was named a First Place Winner in the American Protégé International Music Talent Competition, performing at Carnegie Hall in April 2026.

Through the guzheng, Hannah continues to explore cultural connection, expression, and artistic growth. We are proud to share her voice as part of this year’s AAPI Heritage Month concert experience.

Join us for an evening of live music, cultural expression, and cross-cultural collaboration.

What happens when traditional instruments are treated like living instruments instead of museum pieces?

That question slowly became the foundation of PLAY: Voices of AAPI.

This project brings together guzheng, dizi, live band, cinematic sound, jazz, and contemporary crossover performance into one shared stage experience here in Atlanta.

Really grateful for every musician, collaborator, student, sponsor, and audience member helping us build something new together. 🎶
