On Tuesday, December 9th at 7:58pm, we lost my mom — the most loving and generous woman I’ve ever known. Her beautiful soul returned home to God, and my heart feels both shattered and yet strangely full of the countless memories she gave me.

These past two years of her stage 4 cancer diagnosis were filled with struggle, with these last 3 weeks being excruciatingly hard as her pain was constant. I am so grateful she is finally free from all her torment and suffering. Right now I’m holding sadness and gratitude together, because losing her hurts more than words, but knowing she’s at peace brings comfort deeper than I expected.

My sister hardly left her side, caring for her with unwavering devotion, and I did the best I could — because bearing witness to her prolonged agony overwhelmed and consumed me at times. Thinking back of all of her silent suffering for years before the diagnosis breaks my heart. But every moment near her, every quiet breath, every smile she gave me, every soft touch, and every kiss I gave her was an honor I will carry forever.

Please join me in remembering the beautiful, resilient, fiercely loving woman she was - a mom who gave deeply, loved fiercely, and left a legacy of kindness that will never fade. I know that her spirit is now surrounded by love with God at her side. Thank you Marlene for the loving me the best way you knew how. I love you deeply and am forever your son. In Love and In Light. I not accustomed to share anything personal on social media but this moved me to my core.. Most you have partners, significant others, kids, and family. Some of us have never been so fortunate but our lives matter none the less. Here goes and I hope it resonates with all of you on some level always.

I want to share the 1st birthday celebration of my sweet soul Pacho. I adopted him off the streets of Buford Hwy from my friends Chris Cassidy and Dan Niski after they found him vulnerable, in traffic, roadside alone and scared. I now know Pacho came to me in my time of need with all the love in the world abound.

I’ve been carrying a very special realization close to my heart: that my sweet Dear Head Chihuahua, Pacho, has come into my life at this exact time for a reason. His presence feels like a quiet miracle — a gentle, constant reminder of what unconditional love truly means. Every look he gives me with those big black eyes, every little kiss, every wag of his tail, every spark of joy when he wants to play, every time he curls up beside me without asking for anything in return… all of it is pure love.

And I’m beginning to understand that this love — this beautiful, patient, and steady love that he gives me so freely — is the very same kind of love I need to begin giving to myself. Pacho isn’t just my companion; he’s my teacher. In his eyes and in his heart, I am already enough, just as I am. And maybe… maybe it’s time I start seeing myself the way he sees me — with kindness, with pride, and with a wide-open compassion.

He didn’t come into my life just to be loved, but to remind me how much I deserve to be loved — especially by myself, within my friendships, and with my family. This has been a lesson a long time coming after 25+ years of being single. Happy 1st birthday Pacho, and thank you as you are my heart always and forever. ❤️
