Specializing in wood signs, handmade home decor, handmade farmhouse decor, laser engraving, laser cut items and repurposed home decor.

My name is Jenny Strickland. I am the creator of all items at Dixie Chix Designs. I have a wonderful husband, two grown daughters and three grandchildren. I create each item by hand. Wood items do not have vinyl lettering stuck to wood. The lettering on all signs are either painted, or cut out using a laser, painted and then attached using an industrial strength 3M tape. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you.

Check out this cool superhero sign! All the superhero emblems are cut and scored with a laser and then hand painted! An amazing gift for the sweetest boy!

What type of wood do I use for door hangers? Our local, big box hardware stores are Lowes and Home Depot. While both stores offer similar products, some are better than others. For door hangers, I prefer the 1/2x4x8 sanded plywood from Lowes. The grain in the wood is different than that purchased at Home Depot. But I have found that the quality of the wood at Lowes is much better. When cutting the sanded plywood from Lowes with an up spiral router bit, I get very little splintering. When removing stencil, the wood doesn't pull up with the stencil. In purchasing the 1/2x4x8 wood from Home Depot, I have found that the wood edges splinter A LOT! When pulling up the stencil after painting, splinters of the wood seem to pull off with the stencil. I prep my wood by sanding with 300 grit sand paper and dusting with a dry paint brush. Then wipe clean with a tact cloth. Links to the wood from Lowes, my favorite router, circle jig and up spiral bit can be found in the comments.

Good morning friends! I hesitate to make this post, as my family and I choose to be private with our personal affairs. My family is facing a medical emergency that is going to require a lot of my time for the next one to two months. While I am still taking orders, please understand that the process may take more like 4-6 weeks, as opposed to 2-4 weeks. My quality of work will not change, only the time to make your piece will change-- temporarily. My family and I appreciate your loyalty, friendship, love and prayers. XOXO- Jenny

Good morning, friends! As we prepare our hearts for worship this morning, remember that God sees you in ALL of your circumstances. He loves you! He will take care of you! You only need to pray, have faith, be still and let God do His thing!
