Recognizing Hunger Action Month with the Tucker studio team was definitely a favorite moment in 2023. Folks took a half day of volunteer hours and hit a local non-profit called “Open Hand” to pack around 2k+ meals for neighbors in need.

Open Hand delivers meals for Medicaid clients tailored for certain illnesses like high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, HIV/AIDS, obesity, and other chronic conditions. They also provide nutritious meals for seniors and low-income kids. As one of the largest community-based providers of home-delivered meals in the US, they rely on volunteers to keep serving around 1.5 million meals annually. We were glad to play a small part in helping them help others. Check out the photos from the afternoon of meal-packing.

Curious about what goes into capturing the perfect shot? Let’s take a look 🎬

Between client projects, Cameron Logsdon led this test shoot inspired by National Lovers Month. The goal? To capture peanut butter in a different way, while still being commercially viable.

🥃 We started by giving a bottle of Skrewball Spirits Peanut Butter Whiskey a generous coating of melted Kroger brand peanut butter and raw peanuts. We then rigged the bottle with a combination of standard studio grip and GRAF Strato gear.

💡 The set was cross-lit with Profoto D2s and bare-bulb flash. We used a separate Profoto light to illuminate the background, with a 1/8 CTO gel filter adding extra warmth.

📸 Once we had the product and lighting just right, we captured the shot using a Phase One XF with a 55mm prime lens.

We're not just here for the booze, um boos. 👻🍾 Get the scoop on how we got these spooktacular shots for Kroger’s Halloween print and digital campaigns at our studio.

For our digital shoot:
➡️ Jordan Saffel wanted a dark, moody set to showcase Kroger’s Halloween costumes and décor.
➡️ Cameron Logsdon started by building the set’s wall, featuring molding details and a rich shade of purple.
➡️ Maggie Freeman selected the props, including antique silver platters and hand-painted frames.

Finally, we styled the client products—the Halloween costumes hung front and center, while the décor was arranged on top of a mantel from our large prop collection. We paired D2 heads with a mix of color gel filters for the perfect lighting and ambiance, and the final shots were captured with a One (IG: ) XF camera and 50mm prime lens.

For our print shoot:
We followed ’s scary-good cocktail recipe. 🦇

🎬 Setting the scene
The drinks were showcased atop a floating tray propped up with acrylic books, and dry ice was added to create a bubbling, smoky atmosphere.

💡 Lighting
The set was cross-lit with D2 1000W strobes, with a third light in the back to illuminate the glasses, and we captured it all with a Phase One () XF camera system and 80mm lens.

✨ Retouch
Although the cocktails came out picture-perfect on their own, Louisville-based Jan Noe and Troy Wade worked their retouch magic.

They cleaned up the shot, lightened the berries and pathed all but the fog with an extreme S-curve layer applied on top. Using Select – Color Range, a mask was applied to the fog layer. The S curve was deleted, the mask was cleaned up and Lighten mode was applied to the fog layer. Voilà!

This Friday the 13th, we’re reminded of how LUCKY we are to work with folks we genuinely enjoy.

Our client service leaders recently got together in for some goal alignment sessions and team building, and they had a blast! There were some eye-opening self-discovery moments as part of the professional development sessions with Lee from Learning Karma, using Gallup Clifton Strengths and their VIA Character Strengths assessment tools.

It wasn’t all work and no play though—the team made sure to explore local honky-tonks and hit Nashville’s night spots as part of a competitive, city-wide scavenger hunt.

Join us this September and October as we mark the observance of Hispanic Heritage Month – a time to celebrate Hispanic culture, traditions and so much more.

This period, which is meant to acknowledge Hispanic countries and territories such as Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Cuba, El Salvador, Honduras and more, was initially established as a week-long observance in 1968 by former President Lyndon B. Johnson. Two decades later, it was extended to a full month under former President Ronald Reagan in 1988.

We're so excited to ring in this year's Hispanic Heritage Month by highlighting some of our very own PureRED family and their stories.
