What are you giving up for Lent this year? Growing up, that wasn't really a thing in faith circles, but in my adult years as my circles have broadened, I hear it more frequently. It's a beautiful tradition to approach Easter with sacrifice in mind, remembering that Jesus sacrificed His very life to reconcile us to God our Father. But, if we are just giving up something for Lent, if our sacrifice is just a thing we do because of a date on the calendar, if it's just an empty ritual, then whatever it is we are sacrificing is empty and meaningless. I challenge myself and I challenge you in this Lenten season to consider what Jesus gave up for us. Let's have a broken and contrite heart before the Lord. And in our brokenness, let's celebrate our healing and wholeness in Jesus.

Some days this verse can be a challenge to live out. My feelings aren't peaceful and my heart wants to lash out. But that is not the love Jesus calls his followers to live. Whatever I choose to do, should be done in love and truth with the goal of peace.

Happy Mother's Day - to the moms in the thick of raising kids, to those navigating life with grown and flowns, to those waiting to hold their new born for the first time, for those who have lost, for those who wait and hope, to the aunts, neighbors, godmothers, teachers, bonus moms and all the women who speak wisdom and show love to the next generations.
We're just a group of everyday people seeking a real, authentic relationship with Jesus and with each other, and we're here to walk alongside anyone who wants the same. We'd love for you to join us.

Sometimes we need to take a step of faith not knowing exactly where that step will lead or exactly what the step even is. (If we knew, it wouldn't be faith at all.) But God knows. He's already there, and at the same time he's right here. Have faith, not fear. Trust the one who made you and loves you more than anyone. He will never fail.
