That’s a wrap for the 15th annual April Fools Ride. Thank you to all the volunteers and riders who came out today to support us. And a huge Thank You to our sponsors, Responsive Technology Partners, Oconee Outfitters, Visit Milledgeville, Comfort Farms, Blue Goose on Main, GMC Mountain Bike Team, Grimes Landscape and Baldwin County Fire Department for making this event possible.
Mark your calendars for the 2022 April Fools Ride on April 2nd. It will be awesome to be back to our regular Spring schedule!
The weather forecast is looking great for Saturday with overcast skies, temps in the low 80’s until lunchtime and rain holding off until the evening. It will be a great day to be on a bike in Middle Georgia!
We will be starting the ride again this year from Responsive Technology Partner’s office (formerly Cogentes) on the grounds of the former Central State Hospital. The address is 286 Jones Drive, Milledgeville GA 31061.
As you are aware, the ride is being held as a show-and-go format again this year. Registration will be open from 7am to 9am, so you can show up whenever you want between those times to get checked in, sign your waiver, get your ride t-shirt (if you made the early registration cutoff) and head out on the course.
If you want to start your ride before 7am or speed up the check-in process, please download our waiver from the link below, print, fill out, sign and email back to me by end of day tomorrow. Otherwise, I will have plenty of them printed and available to complete onsite at 7am.

There are 3 rest stops on the routes again this year. They will be open during the following times to try and accommodate as many start times / rider speeds as possible.
Comfort Farms (All) 7:15am-11:00am
Coopers Fire Department (All) 8:00am-12:30pm
Blue Goose on Main (64 & 80 only) 9:15am-3:00pm
We will have water, Gatorade, PB&J sandwiches, Pimento and Cheese Sandwiches, Fig Newtons and Bananas at the stops.
For those wanting to enjoy a meal downtown after the ride, we will have $5 Milly Money cards available for all riders. Just come see us at registration after the ride and we will give you your card.
I can’t wait to see everyone on Saturday!

And that’s a wrap for the 2020 April Fools Ride! I can’t thank our volunteers and sponsors enough for helping us give our Middle Georgia riders a fun event (with gorgeous weather)! Special thanks to Adam Heagy and Oconee Outfitters for saving the day with powdered sports drink... evidently there is a huge shortage of Gatorade powder everywhere and for keeping our riders safe with awesome SAG support. Thank you Angie Dalrymple Martin and the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber for getting up crazy early to host our first rest stop and to all the coaches and student athletes from Old Capital Racing and GMC Prep MTB teams who pitched in to make this event happen. Huge thanks to Comfort Farms, Blue Goose on Main and Baldwin County Fire Rescue for hosting our rest stops again this year! We’re looking forward to 2021 and actually being to host this thing in the spring!
Good evening everyone. This is the post that many of you have been waiting on… details on the rescheduled 2020 April Fools Ride. As posted earlier, the RIDE IS ON! We will host the 2020 April Fools Ride on July 25th. The ride will be held as a show-and-go format. Registration will be open from 7am to 9pm. For those who want to wait until day of to register, you can arrive any time between those hours, pay, sign a waiver and head out on the course. For all pre-registered riders and those wishing to speed up the process, you can download the waiver from here (http://bikewalkbaldwin.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/WAIVER-OF-LIABILITY_Single.pdf), print, sign, scan or take a picture and email to me at [email protected].
If you have pre-registered and email a signed waiver to me, you are welcome to show up as early as you like to get started with the ride then stop by registration when you finish and pickup your t-shirt. I am going to place the ride t-shirt order on Monday, July 13th and will not be ordering any extra shirts. So if you want a shirt, please go ahead and register (http://bikewalkbaldwin.org/april-fools-ride) before 8am, July 13th.
Unlike previous rides, our rest stops will only be open for the specific hours listed below. These hours should accommodate most all riders who start between 7am and 9am. We are still working to confirm exact rest stop locations and will let everyone know as we get closer to the ride date. In order to minimize the risk of spreading germs and viruses, we will only be serving individually packaged food (sandwiches, fig newtons, bananas) at the rest stops. Volunteers will be onsite to hand out food as riders arrive and to ensure that we minimize the number of riders gathered at any time. They will also have containers to refill your water bottles for you. I know that this is not an ideal situation for the rest stop, but it is the best we can do to stay in compliance with local, state and federal guidelines so we can host the event.
