How unbothered are you?

I love the fact that our House of Brand Community likes to get together and do things. I LOVE our connections! We do life and business…. And we have a good time!

It was beautiful to process how I felt after driving 45 minutes to a rained out event. I love how soo many people reached out to me but when my phone is on silent…’I know nothing’ 😂

Anyway, I had a moment of reflection. Events get cancelled, no big deal… it was certainly no one’s fault that I missed the messages that would have saved me the trip. I have been pivoting in a very intentional way lately….just pivoting towards, ‘how much energy am I deciding to spend on, bothered?’ I’ve been functioning this way for a little while mentally however, I had an out of body experience that left me with the most beautiful confirmation and revelation…

Being unbothered by things you can’t control is connected to a path of peace. It felt like something I’ve known forever but it just ‘hit differently’ this time.

It’s not just about being unbothered but it’s also about seeing God in the midst of the things that have the potential to bother you…just like when life is butterflies and rainbows.

Maybe you can see opportunities to be unbothered in your career, in parenting, with fickle associates, or your significant other…how much energy do you want to spend on things you can’t control? How many times are you going to go out of your way only to be left with more stress? I truly believe that I missed my messages today so God could tap me on the shoulder to gift wrap enlightenment for the moments of pivot that have been adding to my peace lately, instead of bothering me. I hope this message gives you the same…

July 11th was King B’s birthday, my 22 year old is such a light. He is a crazy talented young man who does everything from making beats to leveling up the lives of those around him. He is wise and knows the word and lives it out in his life.
He represents my faith birth. When He was born, I had to trust God in a different way. It’s a special kind of love.

Anyway, while the world was reacting to the news about Nolan Wells, the Black community was and still is grieving that tremendous loss; Nolan wasn’t my son…but he was a young man who didn’t deserve to die the way that he did. I chose to stay quiet. Not because I didn’t feel anything — but because some moments are too personal to share publicly. We had a good time celebrating my son the way we have his whole life - there was just no post.

I wanted to hold space for my son, for joy, for life, and for the people who matter most.
This post is for him. My light. One of my reasons. My reminder that even in heavy seasons, love still gives us something to celebrate. I am honored and grateful to be his Mom…more than there are words to describe…

Have you encountered an interjecting thought that just stopped you in your tracks?

I was on my way somewhere and it occurred to me that I am not in control of nothing except the moment I’m in and even then, I realized…I don’t even control that!!

It overwhelmed me with both joy and fear because I realize that trusting God means just that…fearing God means just that…

It’s about relinquishing control of what I think my life is supposed to be and how it’s suppose to look.

I’ve spent majority of my life trying to prove to people how worthy, pretty, intelligent, loving etc. ‘I am’ and none of it matters because when we lean into God’s plan, He aligns you with the people who see your greatness and celebrate it. He also aligns the people with you!

You don’t need to put on a show for God. You don’t need to dress the part or constantly work to leave people with the right first impression. You don’t need to show up in places where you are not celebrated. You don’t need to hide from yourself.

Just do your best and let God do the rest. He will redeem the time. He will reveal those who are for you. He will silence your enemies and make them your footstool. He promotes. He demotes. He knows all and sees all.

My new favorite made-up phrase… ‘I’m too busy out here moguling.’

I am unbothered.
