“Madison and Tristan, let’s go!!! Y’all do this s**t every morning, c’mon I gotta go to work,” I yelled up the steps to my seven and eight year olds. I couldn’t for the life of me understand how they could slow poke around in the mornings when they did the same things every day.

“I don’t know why you yell at them when it doesn’t call for all of that.”

I rolled my eyes up in my head. This n***a was here and I had to make sure they got ready and to school when he could’ve took them. Mykell, was a music producer and he made great money doing it. We lived in one of the most exclusive subdivisions in Atlanta, GA. Our kids went to The Westminster School and I loved it. We made so many contributions to secure them a spot because we wanted our kids to have things that we never had so we had them in private school since they were old enough to go.

“Mykell, why couldn’t you take them? I have to be at the office in 45 minutes and you know how traffic is this time of morning,” I huffed at him.

“I have a meeting with Amp and Quon Fu this morning at Unruley. He wants me to produce his whole album,” he said while taking a bite out of the banana he picked up.

I sucked my teeth. I was an investment banker and I loved what I did. I had my own money and helped Mykell invest some of his into various businesses around the city so we would never be without again. He also had a studio that stayed booked and his time in the booth wasn’t cheap. He had some of the big names using his place when they came to town and he taxed they ass. He had to be doing something right because they paid it with no problem.

I turned to face him, “Don’t you think you spreading yourself a lil thin? We have a nice savings so it would be good if you stayed home sometimes.” I said to him as our kids ran into the kitchen ready to go.

“Says the woman who works all the damn time,” he mumbled.

“What did you say?”

“Nothing. Have a nice day baby. I love you,” he said, kissing me on my cheek.

I loved my husband, but he could act like a child at times. I hated that mumbling under your breath s**t. If you’re grown, say that it loud so it could be heard, addressed, and checked if need be. I walked out to my 2019 Cadillac Escalade, getting in making sure the kids were secured in their booster seats. I started the car from in the house so it was ready to drive. I loved my house, we’ve come a long way from the two bedroom we lived in when we both were trying to make a name for ourselves. The only thing I didn’t like was the snooty ass neighbors. I guess since we didn’t have their long, old money, we weren’t worthy of living there. I’m a girl that grew up on the gritty streets of the West Side of Birmingham, graduated from Alabama State University and moved to Georgia when I was twenty-two fresh out of college so I was the poster child for struggling.

I pulled up to the drop off line and got out to see them in the school. Even if I was running late, I always made sure they got into the school safely.

“Alright mama’s babies, have a good day. I love you and remember, no question is a stupid question,” I said while kissing both of them.

“See you later mommy,” Tristan said. He was my little man and I spoiled him silly. Don’t get me wrong, I spoiled them equally, but I showed Tris a little more attention than Madi. The reason being is because he had my temper and I could already see it being a problem, but that’s another story for another day.

After seeing them in, I hopped back in my truck and pulled off. I looked at the time and saw that I was late for my morning meeting. Even though I was a partner at the firm I worked in, I still wanted to be prompt and on time. I worked my ass off to get to where I am, and I refused to let lateness be a problem for me. Me being a young, black woman in a male dominated position had me always on my s**t. Especially with a name like mine, I had to work two times harder than the rest of the women in my field.

Mykell would be petty and not have a damn place to go just to get out of taking them to school so I called him to see if he had left the house yet. Just to be petty like him, I Facetimed him, but he didn’t answer. Since he didn’t answer that, I decided not to call him again. I pulled up to the parking deck and hopped out. We had people to park our cars for us and me being late, I needed it. I took the elevator up to the fiftieth floor and walked out with my head held high.

When I walked past Jessica, she stopped me.

“Mrs. Parker, there is some lady in your office, with ummmm a little girl and she said that you knew she was coming.”

I looked at Jessica like she grew a second head, “I don’t have a meeting with a lady, I have a meeting with Conner and the rest of the partners.”

“That meeting was cancelled; didn’t you get my email? I sent it to your phone.”

“No, I don’t have an email fro—“

That’s when I looked down at the phone in my hand, I didn’t have mine, I had Mykell’s.

S**t, I thought. It wasn’t that I had anything to hide, but I had my schedule in there. “Alright Jessica, I grabbed MyKell’s phone by mistake so please get him on the phone so we can switch. Oh, also hold all of my calls until I see who this is in my office.”

“Yes ma’am. Your coffee is on your desk.”

I walked to my office and when I walked in, I wanted to fall out. There sitting on my couch was a little girl who could be Madi’s twin and could be my deceased daughter. I composed myself to see what this trollip wanted.

“Hello, I’m Keyani Par—“

“I know who you are, I’ve always known who you were.” She stood up and looked me over. I was so glad that I made sure I was on point this morning, I had on a Chanel pantsuit, with some Lou Bous on my feet to match my eyeshadow and purse. I may have grown up in the hood, but I didn’t dress like it.

She went to the couch and brought the little girl up. “This is my daughter Mykela.”

I looked at her, then the little girl. She was so beautiful and looked just like Mykell that I killed him one hundred times in my head. I continued to stare at her because I could feel myself going back to that dark ass place, I fought so hard to emerge from. It couldn’t be, could it? I thought.

“Okay, soooooo why are you here?” I asked.

She laughed, “Well I’m Marquett and since our man is not answering my calls, I decided to let you know that you have a step-daughter.”

I had to count in my head to ten to calm down. I felt Yani coming out of me and even though this was definitely the time, it wasn’t the place to tear s**t up.

“Excuse me, I don’t know what you thought you were accomplishing by coming to my place of employment, but you have me all the way fuc—, excuse me, messed up. Now I’m asking you to leave nicely, but if you don’t, I’ll have security es**rt you out.”

She grabbed her Birkin bag, the exact same one I had, and walked towards the door. “Well you tell Mykell that I need my money on time and he’s slacking on paying me. I didn’t want to come here, but hey he left me no choice.”

“Bit—“

My office door flew open and in swagged my piece of s**t husband.

“Baby I think you picked up my pho— Quett, what you doing here?”

Good Morning ☺..here's a sneak peek of Married to A Bama Bully 2......

“Jamari, wait!”

I kept walking. Ignore her ass, I told myself repeatedly. I refused to turn around to see what she wanted. I slowed my stride since I didn’t hear her behind me anymore. I shot Wild a text telling him to come and scoop me. I smelled her before anything, her scent drove me crazy but right now I wanted to choke slam her ass on the ground. Looking up, I saw her staring at me, with tears streaming down her face. Usually those tears moved me, but right now they did nothing to me.

“Please, hear me out.”

I folded my arms across my chest. I wanted to hear this bulls**t. “You got two minutes.”
Raina looked down, then back at me. “When I figured it out, I wanted to tell you, I swear I did, but I couldn’t bring myself to re-open that wound for you.”

I walked off. There was no way possible I was going to stand there and let her feed me that. Raina grabbed my arm, I snatched my arm from her.

“Please Jamari, please.”

I turned around so fast, she tripped since she was on my heels. “PLEASE WHAT?! Please what? Stand here and listen to you lie to me? I know you Raina, I mean I really know you and I know it’s something you’re hiding from me. I told Wild and Ya that you were moving funny since we came back, but me being me I gave you the benefit of the doubt. You just don’t understand the hold you have on me. I HAVE NEVER FELT THE WAY I FEEL ABOUT YOU ABOUT NO OTHER BITCH!!! Not even Alexia! With the way you’ve been moving lately I can’t trust you. If I can’t trust you then I can’t have you around me. So I’m making the executive decision to switch the teams, business is going to go on as usual but it will be Ya and I working together, you and Wild will do the inventory when the shipments come in and we will communicate through them. I don’t want s**t to do with you.” Walking off, I didn’t turn around this time even though I heard her break down. Y’all n***as don’t understand how hard that s**t was for me to do, but I did it.

I called Wild, I had to get the f**k away from her before I went back and put my hands on her. Me not being that type of n***a, I pulled a cigarette out of my pocket and lit to calm my nerves. Let me not start on Lexi, I should’ve cut that bitch up when I had her at the Coosa River. Escaping to Atlanta was wise for her, but she just killed her mama and Tati. I hated to do it to them, naw I’m lying, I wanted to.
Wild pulled up on me and I got in the car to a lit blunt.

“My n***a.”

“I am my brother’s keeper. Now what the f**k happened?”

I ran down everything that happened. When I was done, Wild stared at me.

“What?”

“So, let me get this straight, you met up with Fils, your father in law and he was with your fiancé and you showed up with your wife? Then your fiancé outed that your wife knew that your father in law killed our Pops? Now not only are you beefing with your father in law, you beefing with your fiancé and your wife? Don’t that s**t seem a little strange to you? How in the hell does Lexi even know who Fils is?”

Those were the same questions I was wondering. “Honestly Mel, I was thinking that too. Like why would she tell that s**t now? Somebody just told her, if she’d known that months ago, she would’ve said something.”
He nodded. “You gotta keep your eyes out for that bitch man. What you need to do is go home and change the locks and the alarm code on her scandalous ass. She wouldn’t be able to come and go in my s**t like she paid bills there. Then you still got the same safe in there with the same code,” he thumped me in the head, “Damn n***a what the f**k is wrong with you?”

Rubbing where he flicked me, I mugged his ass. “I haven’t gotten around to it yet. You forgot Raina just got out of the hospital today, but I’m on it now.”

“Thank you for calling ADT, this is Ashley agent ID number four-three-six-two on a recorded line, who do I have the pleasure of speaking with today?”

“Jamari Allen.”

“Hello Mr. Allen, how may I assist you?”

“I need to change the alarm code on my residence.”

“Okay, can I have the address and the code on the account please?”

I gave her what she asked for, then she put me on hold. I hated listening to that damn elevator music that all companies had. That was the cheesiest music ever made.

“Hello, Mr. Allen, sorry for the long wait but it seems that I need Mrs. Allen on the line also. When you initially set it up, you made it to where both of you guys had to call to change it.”

“S**t, I forgot about that. Is there anyway around that? Mrs. Allen is not around right now and I need this changed asap.”

“No sir, I’m sorry. Without Mrs. Allen, we cannot change your code.”

I hung up. I wanted to curse her ass out but she was just doing what I paid them to do. When I first bought that house, I had it set up that way in case Lexi got any crazy ideas. Pulling up a locksmith, I called to have them meet me at my house.

“You gone give Rai a key?”

“F**k no, her ass is in the same boat as Alexia, I ain’t got s**t for her.”

Just as we pulled off, headed to my house, I saw a flash of burgundy fly past us.

“Damn that bitch runnin’!! What kind of Charger is that?”

“Twenty-twenty hellcat.”

Wild glanced over at me. “How you know that?”

“Because that’s my future ex-wife’s car.”
