We build custom orphan care plans for churches and networks. We are working towards a world where every church in every community is caring for every orphan.

Patch Our Planet brings a real strategy to the local church that emphasizes sustained care of orphans over the long term here in the U.S and overseas. We want to assist the church to effectively care for orphans and fulfill the Biblical mandate in the process. (James 1:27) Our mission is to equip, inspire and unite churches to best care for children in foster care and orphans globally by providing clear direction, long-term vision, and valuable resources through a custom orphan care strategy.

After seeing the results of our online outreach here in the U.S. this past year, we decided to reach beyond our shores. To do that, we would need to translate our resources into different languages. But which ones do we choose?

Here’s how we decided:

Approximately 1.5 billion people speak the English language, the most widely spoken language in the world (includes both native and non-native speakers).
Check! We already have that resource in English.

With the population of the world being around 7.8 billion, we decided to start with the 7 most popular languages in order to reach the most people. Below is the list of languages we chose with the approximate number of speakers worldwide:

Latin American Spanish (600 million)
Mandarin (1.2 billion)
Arabic (491 million)
French (321 million) expected to reach 700 million by 2050
Brazilian Portuguese (260 million)
Hindi (610 million)
Bengali (290 million)

Total Potential Reach (including our English resource) - 5.2 billion

We’ve partnered with Christian Lingua to translate our workbook into these 7 languages (potentially more in the future). These resources will be available for FREE download on our website in September because of our generous donors. It takes about a month to pull everything together, so thank you for enabling us to make this vision a reality!

When we work with churches, we work to find solutions for local & global vulnerable children who need permanent families. Let me give you a few examples of organizations that we encourage churches to check out:

1. Better Together - https://bettertogetherus.org (keeping families together & children out of foster care)
2. Faith to Action - https://www.faithtoaction.org (children grow best in families, resources for churches to help improve ministry goals and child outcomes)
3. Christian Alliance for Orphans - https://cafo.org (care wisely & well, a network of hundreds of churches & organizations dedicated to doing what's best for vulnerable children)
4. Lifeline Children's Services - https://lifelinechild.org (bringing gospel hope to vulnerable children)

Of course, there are many more wonderful organizations, but this is just a short list to give you a jump start in your resource library.

If your church is not asking, "how can we help children get into forever families?"....you need a plan. Contact us and we can walk with you in a "deep dive" to help you discover the best ways to help vulnerable children both locally and globally, and maybe get rid of some of those bad habits that were built over the years.

Super important resource for the local church. People ask HOW we can better care for orphans during short term mission trips. We are a member of the Christian Alliance for Orphans. Linking arms with hundreds of other organizations for accountability, encouragement, and collaboration helps us help more vulnerable children and familles, learning from others and sharing what we've learned. Grateful for this organization!
