Oct.29th 2:22pm: let’s open up a book. 📕 It’s political season, & if you are curious about the global historical evidence of how the fashions of society determine political, economic & social effects through retail systems (distribution & production) & consumption. This is it!

Below are my 2 favorite chapters I re-read:

1- Luxury, Fashion & Peasantry: The intro to new commodities in Rural Catalan, 1670-1790/ discusses the theory of if consumption determined class or if class determined consumption & when the two started to mesh together. AKA are we buying things because of our class or are we buying things to belong in a certain class?

2: Fashion has extended her influence to the cause of humanity: The Transatlantic Female Economy of the Boston Antislavery Bazaar/ In short, how sewing circles helped antislavery groups.

Honorable mention: Fabricating the Domestic/ The study of how textiles used in an interior determine “culture of appearances” which reflect political, social & economical influence.
