World C.P. Day!

08/18/2020

This is AUesome!!

I am honored to share with you some wonderful news, and I am sure that it will make your day!

Word has come to me from Grace Davis’ high school teacher Jennifer Greer that Grace, who has Down syndrome and is attending the Eagles program at Auburn, has received a bid to a campus sorority!

Six young women with intellectual abilities took part in bid day this past weekend, and the Auburn Greek system, in a kind gesture of inclusion, asked the girls to be a part of the bid day process - and Grace is now a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi (AOII).

I am of course thrilled seeing the Vestavia Hills resident going to college (her parents were told upon Grace’s birth that their daughter would never contribute to society).

Today, Grace will have a chance to learn from her sorority sisters while her sisters will broaden their horizons and learn more about the great things that special needs children and adults can accomplish.

Please offer your congratulations to our friend Grace Davis and let her know how proud you are of her accomplishment.

I hope this piece of warms your heart and reminds you that there are certainly good things happening in our world. 😊

We know many homeless people are counting on these socks. We’re not going to operate in fear! Instead, we will keep moving forward and trust God in the process. So the counting has begun...Thanks FeLicia Green Carswell, Tracy Mitchell and the many friends that have donated to the SCF ā€œSocks for all Seasonsā€ sock drive. Thanks Tucker Parks & Recreation for sponsoring the drop off location this year.

Thank you Auburn University Wheelchair Basketball family Misty and Logan Caudle for your generosity! There’s still time to donate socks to benefit Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and the Atlanta Metro Homeless community.
