YOUNI SOUL

As of Yesterday, i been in this body 28 years. 2/17 the anniversary of a new beginning. I’m still on this mission of dropping 28 full pieces of musical content during the month of February. Its almost pisces season so its finna get wavy. When i was thinking of what else i wanted to rap over this month, this instrumental was a no brainer. Produced and performed on by the fellow Aquarius legend Dr. Dre born 61 years prior to today 02/18/1965. the title of this episode reflects what music means to me.

Recorded this track back in 2021 when the original song came out. Wanted to go back to the studio and polish a couple parts, but never got to it, and ended up shelving the idea completely. The goal of this 28 day challenge is simply to show up for craft on a consistent basis. These freestyles and remixes or a display of my unpolished creativity, lyricism, and storytelling. I do these reinterpretations as an exercise to increase my skill and talent. I have more polished original works otw but 75% of what u see was recorded, mixed, filmed, snd edited on my phone entirely. And not only has alotta dope s**t been made, its also been very therapeutic

Bout 5 years ago the OG version of this song was trending on social media wit the ladies. I liked the concept but couldn’t really bop to it cus of it being from a womans perspective. I heard it one day and new lyrics popped in my head, giving this idea. I decided to take advantage of the songs momentum, and drop a version from a male perspective, but ended up not doing it. Here i am years later doing a 28 day freestyle challenge, and i remembered i had this idea in the tuck. Most of these trax im dropping this month are brand new, but some of them been in the dark and are jus now coming to light
