🎉 BIG News for the Arts! 🎉

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners has voted to add $1.7 million in fiscal year 2025 funding for Fulton County Arts & Culture (FCAC)! This department supports more than 150 arts organizations, including us, the Metropolitan Atlanta Community Band (MACB).

The FCAC grant has been vital to MACB for nearly 30 years. It helps cover essential operating expenses like:
• New music and instrument costs
• Rental of rehearsal and performance venues
• Insurance and administrative supplies

Most importantly, by leveraging this funding, we're able to continue giving college scholarships to musically talented high school graduates.

This past April at our annual spring concert, we presented a scholarship to Sergio Chavira, a Cross Keys High School graduate who successfully completed MACB’s Student Participation Program and is now attending Virginia Union University. Sergio played trumpet with us for two years, and we hope he’ll be able to rejoin us if he returns to Atlanta after graduation.

Thank you, commissioners, for continuing to support the arts and our student musicians!

Want to join us or know a musically talented high schooler? Learn about our Student Participation Program on our website: https://www.macbonline.org/student-participation-352932-405619-619107-594429.html

Check out our outstanding member, Aaron Pressley, as he shares his inspiring journey with MACB! Feeling inspired? Thinking about joining us? Great news! The 2025-2026 concert season is just around the corner!

Our first rehearsal is next Tuesday, August 5th, at 6:30 PM at Frederick Douglass High School. We welcome all instrumentalists, no matter your skill level! But we have an immediate need for double reeds and euphonium players—your talent is needed!
