In memory 🌈 of Halley the Pug, I created this illustration of her peacefully relaxing on her soft little beanbag bed. I had the joy of meeting Halley several years ago in Boston during the wonderful “Pugs Take Boston” event. It was such a memorable experience being surrounded by so many kind people who absolutely adore their pugs—and honestly, who can blame them? They are simply irresistible 🥰

My hope is that this portrait brings comfort, love, and cherished memories to Halley’s family and all who loved her. PugsTakeBoston DogLovers PetArt PugCommunity ForeverLoved

I don’t mind the rain—do you? In Georgia, we really do need it.

Today’s sketch is a flower thriving in the rain, a reminder that growth often comes from the storms.

This is a 9 x 12 original illustration. I’ll leave a link in the comments if these colors would look beautiful in your home. Greeting cards are also available.

I never thought in a million years that I’d give myself a buzz cut. But as the years go by, you start wondering about things. During the pandemic, I grew my hair very long because I needed to see what I looked like with long hair again. Honestly, neither my family nor I really loved it, but I had to try it for myself.

When I was 12, my mom got tired of me stuffing all my hair into a swim cap for competitions and took me to get a short pixie cut so I wouldn’t even need one anymore. Funny how life comes full circle.

Over the years, people have called me “sir” or “son” because of my short hair. At times it bothered me, but eventually it stopped mattering because I know exactly who I am. I’m a woman, and I love being a woman. I also happen to love short hair.

I’m sharing this not out of vanity, but because I think a lot of people secretly wonder what it would feel like to shave their head or get a buzz cut. Would it feel more authentic? Less feminine? For me, surprisingly, it made me feel even more feminine. And my husband loves it too, which is definitely a bonus.

Have I made some scary haircut mistakes along the way? Absolutely. 😂 But maybe that’s part of the lesson.

Don’t take yourself too seriously. Try things. Be curious about yourself. Love who you are, no matter what your hair looks like. When you truly love yourself, you glow — and the right people are drawn to that.
A special shout out to https://www.instagram.com/rene.hfdzk?igsh=d2Uyb2s4MXR0Z2Rq for helping me the clipper numbers. I still continue to change the numbers as we're entering summer, but I will always for the rest of my life have a buzz cut!

There’s something special about capturing the spirit of a dog in just a few lines the warmth, the loyalty, the personality. This one made me smile while I was drawing it.

Do you see a dog you know in this face? Or does it remind you of a beloved companion? Is this your dog?💭

I’d love to hear what you think or even better, tell me about your dog.

📩 I also create custom sketches of pets and homes—message me if you’d like one made just for you or as a meaningful gift.
