Van Jones said something in his recent TED Talk that deeply connects with the BE LUX mission: the future of AI cannot be built while leaving people and communities behind.

That is exactly why I’m building BE LUX.

AI should not replace hospitality. It should help make hospitality more human.

AI should not make service workers invisible. It should help create better tools, training, transparency, and opportunity.

In just a few days, we’ll officially launch our first Bay Area property activation at The Grand Oakland.

What started as an idea is becoming reality.

We’re building an AI-powered concierge platform that helps properties deliver better resident experiences while connecting people with trusted local services, exclusive experiences, and community.

This pilot is the first step toward something much bigger, and I can’t wait to share what’s next.

Whew… it’s been a minute since I sent out a BE LUX newsletter 😅

BE LUX is officially stepping into a new chapter — hospitality, concierge services, AI training, workforce development, public benefit, and a much bigger mission around creating fairer opportunities for service workers, gig workers, residents, businesses, and communities.

Last week I had the opportunity to join the California Gig Workers Union and connect with an incredible group of leaders from across the country who are working to shape the future of the gig economy.

As someone who has spent over a decade building BE LUX while also working on platforms like Uber and Lyft, this wasn’t just another meeting—it was an opportunity to listen, learn, and collaborate with people passionate about creating a better future for millions of gig workers.

The future of work isn’t workers vs. technology.
It’s about using AI, blockchain, and innovation to build a system that’s fair, transparent, and beneficial for everyone.

Excited about the relationships we’ve built and looking forward to exploring ways we can work together.
