Trying to do a short little animation every day, today is day 5. I’ll try to post the other 4 throughout the week. This was animated frame by frame in VR using Quill, remeshed in Houdini, and rendered in Blender with Cycles. No AI was used in the making of this.
"My First Animated Shorts" is out now! Check the link in my bio to see a higher quality version that you can watch in full screen. Music by Hunter Tredway!
At the beginning of this month I made a resolution to start and finish my first short film. The goal was to rip off the band-aid and get something out there to make it feel less intimidating to make longer, more narrative shorts in the future. After premiering it locally in Los Angeles on 11/29 at Silver Lake Shorts , I've decided to release it publicly.
I hope you enjoy!
“We’re flowers, Morty. I brought us to the Flower Dimension and now we’re stuck as flowers.”
“Aw jeez, Rick. What do we do??”
It was such an honor getting to work with Aptic (music & sound fx) on an animated Rick and Morty ID for Adult Swim for one of my favorite TV shows of all time. Feels like such a full-circle moment getting to work with one of the shows that inspired me to get into animation. Still can’t believe that I got to watch this on air Sunday night during the new Rick and Morty episode.
Everything was modeled and animated from scratch in and rendered in Solaris with . Special thanks to .vlasan for her constant help in bringing this animation to life, and for bringing me on and producing my work, and for their tutorials on building and animating procedural flowers, for his “In Bloom” series on procedural plant modeling & animation, for all of his tutorials on character modeling in Houdini, and for all his help with Solaris, his procedural grass tool, and his endless help with troubleshooting various issues.
