Summer is here — and so is Penelope. ☀️

While other kids are losing their reading habits, yours will be reading and building a mindset that lasts a lifetime.

The Penelope and the Power of Positivity book is THE summer read that does double duty. ☀️ While your daughter is enjoying the story, she’s also building the kind of inner voice that will carry her far beyond the summer.

To every dad who shows up.

Who cheers loudly from the sidelines.
Who wipes the tears and says “try again.”
Who makes his daughter feel like the world is safe because he’s in it.

Happy Father’s Day. 💙🦋

Happy Juneteenth 🖤!

Today we celebrate freedom. And one of the greatest freedoms we can give our daughters is the freedom to know — early, loudly, and often — that they are enough exactly as they are.

To every mom, aunt, grandmother, and village member pouring into a little girl today — this one’s for you. 💛

I’m a physician. But I’m not a pediatrician, a psychiatrist, or a child development expert.

What I am is a mom. And I’ve learned more about kids from being a mom than I ever did in medical training.

Med school could never. 😅

My daughter started developing what I call the “I Can’t Syndrome” — every time she tried something new like reading or riding a bike, her automatic response was “I can’t do it.”

So I told her: if you must say I can’t — add the word YET to it.

“I can’t do it YET.”

It’s a tiny word with a huge impact. And I’ve watched it change her confidence in real time.

That’s the lived experience behind Penelope and the Power of Positivity. Not a textbook. Not a study. I’m a mom who figured something out and wrote it down so your daughter could have it too.

Penelope’s Confidence Kit gives your family a place to practice it every day — 12 affirmation cards, 4 positivity posters, and a 7-day family challenge. All free.

Asking for a friend. 😅

Self-doubt is sneaky. It doesn’t show up loudly — it whispers. And if we’re not careful, it becomes the voice our kids hear too.

That’s why I created the Penelope book — and why I’m giving away a FREE Confidence Kit to help families start building that inner voice early.

✨ 12 affirmation cards
📌 4 positivity posters
🗓 A 7-day family challenge

One of the most quoted lines from Penelope is:

“Hard things are just things I can’t do YET.”

This is because confidence isn’t believing you’re good at everything, it’s believing you can grow.

And that belief? It doesn’t build itself.

By the time a child says “I can’t do it” out loud, that conversation has already been happening quietly for a while.

Penelope’s Confidence Kit gives your family a place to start:

✨ 12 affirmation cards your child can print and put on their mirror
📌 4 Penelope- themed posters ready to hang in their room
🗓️ A 7-day family challenge you can do together

All free. All printable.

Grab it directly at the link in my bio. 💛

Save this for the days your child needs a reminder. 🦋

Last weekend I had the best time at the 4th Annual Summer Sacks Full of Books Giveaway with 💛

I spent Saturday giving out prizes and getting books into the hands of kids in the community and I got to do it alongside some incredibly talented authors ☺️

This is what showing up for kids looks like and it never gets old. 💛

Throwing it back to one of my favorite events of the year. 💛📚

For the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of participating in Share the Love Outreach’s Summer Book Giveaway, an event dedicated to putting books into the hands of children and supporting families in our community for the summer.

Our mission is to minimize the effects of poverty in the lives of children, and this event is one small but powerful way that mission comes to life. Because every child deserves access to stories that inspire, encourage, and help them dream bigger.

We’re doing it again today and I look forward to sharing how things went today 📚✨

I stumbled across this Greg Mike Loudmouf sculpture here in ATL and immediately thought:

“Yep. Penelope belongs here.” 😆📚

A giant character with a BIG mouth holding a book about positive self-talk, confidence, and the power of “yet”? It just felt right.

Especially since the stories we put into children’s hands eventually become the voices they hear in their heads.

And that’s exactly why I wrote Penelope and the Power of Positivity.
