We like growing funky vegetables like this squash. This is not our first time growing round squash but this is a new variety for us. If it grows well for us this year then we will increase production in future years.

What's your favorite funky vegetable?

It's important to look at crops often and thoroughly. It allows you to see any potential issues. We mainly are looking for pest but also check for any health issues.

Each of these photos shows a pest. The first one is a potato beetle. They look similar to a lady bug but they are larger and a light brown. If you have an established population of them they can wipe out whole gardens. The second is a buckeye caterpillar, just one is not an issue but with an established population I'm sure we would see some leaves eaten.

Can you spot the pest in the third photo?

Dont forget we will be at Oakhurst Market this Saturday with plenty of squash and zucchini. Cucumbers will be ready in a week or two as well.

We are happy to have such a healthy bee population around us. We have several different types that we see everyday in the field. We plan to have our own bee hives in the next few years since they help so much with providing amazing vegetables to everyone. Like this beautiful zucchini.

We will have plenty of it at Oakhurst Farmers Market in Decatur on Saturday.

Who's excited for squash?
This year we are growing a standard summer squash and as you can see we are going to have plenty of it.

We have been putting a lot of time and research in how to get our crops to be healthy and productive. So far we are happy with how things are going.

Tomatoes are out of the greenhouse and in the field. Now they have the room to start growing thicker and taller. Some already have some flower nodes coming up. Now we just need to get all of our tomahooks ready so we can start trellising all of the plants up.

Cucumbers will be starting to blossom soon and we can not wait to be harvesting these and enjoying them in so many ways.

What's your favorite way to eat cucumbers?
