Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the coalition-backed party he is expected to align with ahead of the 2027 elections.

His move follows his July resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which had been mired in a prolonged internal crisis he, made the announcement through his X handle, posting a photo of himself holding his ADC membership card with the brief caption, "it official"

Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued.

I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State, have been recovered.

I am closely monitoring the security situation nationwide and receiving continuous updates from the frontline.

Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety — and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people.

Nigerians carrying guns to church shouldn't be the "way out" of insecurity it's a loud alarm that something is deeply broken. A place that is supposed to be a sanctuary of peace is slowly turning into a fortress of fear. When worshippers feel the need to arm themselves before they can pray, it means the system meant to protect them has failed.

The real solution isn't in turning churches into battlegrounds. It's in demanding better security structures, holding leaders accountable, strengthening community intelligence, and restoring trust in law enforcement. Guns may create a temporary sense of boldness, but they don't create lasting safety only stability, good governance, and a functioning security network can do that.

Because at the end of the day, a country where people go to worship with weapons is not becoming safer it's becoming used to fear. Nigerians deserve better than survival mode.
