To my dear Grandmothers,

Today, our family beautifully laid my last living grandparent to rest — and in that sacred moment, I found myself reflecting on both of your lives. Because in my eyes, you were both phenomenal women.

Between the two of you, you brought 24 children into this world — nine from one heart, fifteen from another. To say our family is large is an understatement. But what you built was never just a family. You built a beautiful, lasting legacy that shines through every song I sing and every act of kindness I show the world. It also shines through that temper of mine that shows up every now and then — I guess we can call that balance. lol

I think about the private tears you must have cried when life got hard. The prayers you said over us when we didn’t even know we needed them. You persevered through it all — so that we could have better. And for that, I will be grateful for the rest of my days.

You were good and faithful servants until the very end. If I live up to being even half the individuals you were here on earth, then I will have lived a life well worth living. Rest now, Grandma. You’ve more than earned it.
