Beginning Wednesday morning, my team and I began an important effort for being good stewards of our community: picking up campaign yard signs! And this year, there are a lot of them. We have already grabbed a solid amount of the signs, but we will be continuing to collect them throughout the end of the week and the weekend. If you have already pulled yours inside, we are happy to pick it up from you if you want to shoot us a quick message with your address. Our campaign number is 678-719-2395. Running for office is a humbling experience, and I am grateful to Robert Lipham for his passion for service and a clean campaign. Know that as your next Alderman, I am excited to be a pragmatic voice for our city, and my door is always open for your thoughts, ideas, and concerns. But tonight, all I am is grateful to our community for the vote of confidence and support!!

Happy Election Week! This coming Tuesday, November 7, 2023 is Election Day. My message today is a simple one: make a plan to vote! Do you know you are the kind of person that ends up staying late at work? Make a plan Tuesday to go vote first thing in the morning! Know you usually have an hour lunch break? Pack a lunch so you can quickly run over to vote on Tuesday. Know you will be out of town next week? Pop over to the Roberts School TODAY or TOMORROW for the last days of early voting.

Next Tuesday on Election Day, all Acworth voters must vote at our local polling location. This year, all of the city will vote at the Acworth Community Center on Cherokee Street for Election Day no matter which precinct you live in, and the polls will be open for 7AM to 7PM. Don’t forget to Post the Peach!

This campaign from the start has been all about one central theme: community! We have spent countless hours meeting neighbors, knocking doors, and investing time into connecting with residents across the city. Campaign Trail Update!

It’s hard to believe it has only been a little over one month since deciding to run to represent our community on Acworth City Council - and it has been a busy one! If you have not seen around town, we have been knocking-doors, chatting with neighbors, and dropping off yard-signs throughout the community. In fact, we have had such interest in this campaign that we just ordered a second large yard sign order to accommodate the demand. THANK YOU for this critical support.

One of the best parts of campaigning so far has been having friends and colleagues who want to go knock doors with my team. For example, a friend in Baker Plantation just volunteered to go knock doors with me in his neighborhood. This makes door knocking so much more fun and enjoyable when I get the chance to meet your neighbors with you directly. Acworth Community Veterinarian Toby Carmichael Announces Candidacy for City Alderman in November Elections

Following decades of service to the community as a veterinarian and member of the city’s Planning Commission, longtime resident Toby Carmichael announced his candidacy for an open seat on the city’s Board of Alderman with early community support.

Acworth, GA – Today, August 21, 2023, Toby Carmichael announced his candidacy and qualified for Acworth Alderman in Post 1, which has been held by Alderman Butch Price since 1995. Carmichael is a local community veterinarian at Lake City Animal Hospital here in Acworth. He raised his two children in Acworth, and he has served as a member of the city’s planning commission for nearly two decades. “I am excited for this new opportunity to continue giving back to the city of Acworth. For nearly 30 years, Acworth has been home to raise my family, build my business, serve our neighbors, and be a positive community voice. I was honored when so many community leaders came forward and asked me to consider public service upon the retirement of my colleague and friend Butch Price this fall from the city government. Together, I believe we can focus on livability and top-quality services, make smart decisions on growth and development, and support our small business entrepreneurs, and I look forward to earning our community’s support this November.” Toby resides today in the Lakewood Heights community in Acworth, where he raised his two children. After announcing his intention to seek the position of Acworth Alderman, Toby was immediately endorsed by a large governance group of the city today, including Mayor Tommy Allegood, Alderman Butch Price, Alderman Gene Pugliese, & Alderman Tim Richardson. “I am honored by the early support by leaders like our Mayor, Tommy Allegood, and I look forward to being a pragmatic and balanced leader for the city”, said Carmichael.

Carmichael unveiled a three-point platform today that he intends to guide his campaign and governance mindset if elected:

BEING SMART ON GROWTH – As a member of our city planning commission for several years, I know what proposed developments actually add value to our residents and which ones add too much strain on our infrastructure and small-town feel. As your Alderman, I will be a balanced and pragmatic voice on development, making sure to check in with neighbors about concerns before any project moves forward.

A FOCUS ON LIVABILITY – Acworth has become a top destination for tourism and commerce with our lake and small-town vibe. For our residents though, we need to keep developing amenities for leisure and enjoyment. As your Alderman, I will be a strong advocate for new trail and park developments across the city with a particular focus on expanding new opportunities for our SR 92, Baker, and Cobb Parkway neighbors.

SUPPORT ENTREPRENEURS – As a business owner in Acworth who loves our downtown shopping and restaurant districts, I believe the city plays a critical role in fostering a good business environment. As your Alderman, I will be passionate about creating new opportunities for our residents to start and build their own businesses, and I want to provide even better support to our outlying businesses by Cobb Parkway and I75.
