Neville Goddard’s 'Feeling is the Secret' begins with these lines:
“The world, and all within it, is man’s conditioned consciousness objectified. Consciousness is the cause as well as the substance of the entire world. So it is to consciousness that we must turn if we would discover the secret of creation.” You are the architect of your life - it is your inner world of thoughts and feelings that create your outer world of circumstance.

The Law of Cause and Effect is a universal law that applies to all things on the physical, mental, and spiritual planes. In the mental realm, your subconscious beliefs are the cause; what you experience in your physical world, is the effect. As above, so below, as within, so without - this is ancient Hermetic philosophy.

People have things about their lives they want to change, and they look ‘out there’ for solutions to their problems, but nothing changes. Borrowing money from a family member might solve your financial problems in the short term, but sooner or later, you will find your debts piling up again. Blaming your wife for your over-weight condition won’t make those extra pounds go away.

The first step in taking control of your life and solving your problems is understanding that you are the one who created them. Your subconscious mind doesn't know good from bad, or right from wrong – it creates according to the way it was programmed. If you want your problems to go away, you must change your habitual way of thinking. As Albert Einstein said, “You cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created it.”

If you are a lousy golfer and you want to improve your game, you must practice hitting balls. Professional golfers hit about 500 balls a day. The more time you spend working on your swing, the sooner your golf score will improve. This same principle applies to anything – you have to practice if you want to get better.

Do you ever think about what you think about? There is an old saying, “If you keep on thinking what you're thinking, you'll keep on doing what you're doing, and you'll keep on getting what you're getting.” The key to changing your life is to change your thinking habits.

Psychologists say that we have about 60,000 thoughts a day and that 90% of our thoughts are the same day in and day out. Your thoughts have creative power - as long as you think about things as they are, you will continue experiencing conditions as they are.

In his book, The Mental Equivalent, Emmett Fox says, “If you want to change some condition in your life, you must change your thought about it, and keep it changed. Then the condition will change accordingly.” He also says, “The secret of successful living is to build up the mental equivalent that you want; and to get rid of, to expunge, the mental equivalent of that you do not want.”

Neville had a saying, “Deny the evidence of the senses, and assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled.” You must train yourself to think and feel as if you are the person you want to be, living the life you want to live. If you change what you’re thinking, then you’ll change what you’re doing, and you’ll change what you’re getting. If you exercise on a regular basis and eat a healthy diet, you will be physically fit. If you want to live a good life with plenty of money, great health, and good relationships, then you must form the habit of thinking along these lines.

Set aside time every day for affirmations and visualizing. Imagine that you are now the person you want to be, living the life you want to live – this is the magic formula. Watch your words and thoughts and only say and think in terms of being and having what you want. As Florence Scovel Shinn put it, “Your word is your wand.” It will take practice, but the more time you spend conditioning your mind, the better you’ll get.

You will be amazed at how your life will change in positive ways. People will show up to help you achieve your goals. You won’t have to force yourself to do the things you’ve been putting off - you’ll do them because you want to.

In the bible it says, “The kingdom of heaven is within you.” What you create in your inner world of thoughts and feelings, will show up in your outer world of form and experience - because you are the architect of your life.

Psychologists say that 95% of what goes on in your life is due to your subconscious "thinking". If you want to change something about yourself or your life, you must understand the tremendous power of your subconscious mind.

Important Point #1: Your conscious and subconscious minds are like 2 different people.

Important Point #2: While your thinking takes place in your conscious mind, your subconscious operates below the level of your awareness. When you're using a computer, you do not see the software that makes it work - you only see the screen and the keyboard.

Important Point #3: Your subconscious mind doesn't know right from wrong or good from bad. Let's say your computer has a bug, and you type in 10 + 15 and it gives you 23 as the answer, it doesn't "know" that is incorrect. The same holds true with your subconscious mind - it creates the conditions in your life according to your underlying beliefs, whether good or bad, because "this is how it's supposed to be".

Over the course of your lifetime, you have developed a set of beliefs about "how things are supposed to be". Many of these beliefs were formed in early childhood. These subconscious beliefs are like software programs in the deeper part of your mind that affect the decisions and choices you've made that have led to your current reality.

If your computer is not working properly because it has a bug, it will continue to do so until you install anti-virus software that fixes it. The same holds true with your subconscious mind - it will create more of the same in your life until you overwrite your software with new beliefs.

Your health, your finances, your relationships, your career - all the different areas of your life have been created by your subconscious programming.

Just like golfers who practice hitting balls at the driving range to improve their swing, you can work on your mind everyday to improve your habitual way of thinking. In time, you will see improved conditions in your life and affairs.

The reason you are stuck in your current reality is because you think you are this person and you think this is your life. You are recreating your reality everyday according to your consciousness.

What is consciousness?...

Your thoughts and emotions make up your consciousness. We think in words and pictures, but we also have feelings. The words and pictures are in your conscious mind, your feelings are rooted in your subconscious mind. Our emotions are like a physical form of a thought.

As long as you have the same thoughts and feelings about yourself and your life, things will remain as they are. If you don't like what you're watching on TV, you can change the channel and watch something completely different. You can do the same with your mind - you can imagine that you are living a different life.

Neville taught us to "Deny the evidence of the senses and assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled." Imagine that you are the person you want to be living the life you want to live. Practice this everyday until it becomes a habit - just like a golfer who practices hitting balls to perfect his swing and improve his game.

Neville said that the most fruitful form of prayer is talking to yourself. Take control of your thoughts and program your subconscious mind for all that you want, and it will create it for you. Read his book - Feeling is the Secret (1944).

Why don't you have what you want....

There's only one reason you want something, and that is because you don't have it! Stop wanting it and start imagining that you have it. Consciousness creates reality. When you live in a consciousness that you have what you want, then it will manifest. Consciousness is our thoughts and feelings. While our thoughts take place in our conscious mind, our feelings are rooted in our subconscious mind. We think in words and pictures, but we also experience emotions as part of our awareness equation. To become a great golfer, you must condition your mind and body to hit the ball long and straight. This same idea holds true for anything - when you condition your subconscious mind so that you habitually think and feel as if you have what you desire, then somehow or other it will appear in your life. To be a great golfer, you must hit the ball long and straight pretty much all the time. To create what you want, you must live in the consciousness of having it - all the time. Affirmations and visualization are the way to change your consciousness. "I have $50,000 in my bank account and I feel so good." To be a great golfer requires a lot of time and practice, and the same holds true with reconditioning your habitual way of thinking. Turn off the TV and work on your mind every night, and you will be amazed at the changes that take place in your life and affairs.
