Popular books are worthless garbage. 06/27/2025

I really enjoyed this video essay so I thought I would share it with all of you. If you watch it, let me know what you think. But be sure to watch it all the way through because she makes an argument at the beginning and then undoes the argument by the end. Rather, she presents a balanced argument, and when was the last time that happened on YouTube? LOL!

I know I’ve been MIA for a while. There have been things going on behind the scenes, some more personal than others, they have kept me in a state of feeling overwhelmed. However, it hasn’t stopped me from writing, which has become a sort of refuge for me. Anyway, don’t be surprised if you see me posting here more than I have been lately. To be fair, might even posting this is more than I’ve been posting lately so I’m already fulfilling that promise. But I assure you, there is more coming.

Always Marry An April Girl
By Ogden Nash

Praise the spells and bless the charms,
I found April in my arms.
April golden, April cloudy,
Gracious, cruel, tender, rowdy;
April soft in flowered languor,
April cold with sudden anger,
Ever changing, ever true --
I love April, I love you.

Not a Fool! It’s Still March ♥ — Satia Renée 03/31/2025

A new blog post at last! I swear, 2025 has been the longest year! And today is the only the last day of March. I'm embracing spring as a time to refresh, renew, and start over. Which is why I'm here, finally posting a blog post again. There's more coming. I promise!

Not a Fool! It’s Still March ♥ — Satia Renée And welcome back! I hope you are as happy to see me as I am to be back. So why did I disappear? Last year was a rough one physically. If you or someone you know has an autoimmune condition, you know how it is. If you’re lucky and there are medications that can help you, it still takes time to find

Now that I have finished revising my WIP (and yes it needs more revisions), I'm moving onto the next project, plotting out as best I can. To be fair, I am more of a pantser (just like Stephen King) and I do stray from the outline more often than not.

Tell me what you think:

A multigenerational story about a grandmother with a terminal illness, a single mother who would prefer not to help her mother but chooses to do so to help her daughter, and a 12-year-old girl trying to find her voice.

When E is diagnosed with a terminal illness, she reaches out to her estranged daughter J who begrudgingly agrees to take care of her mother because she wants to provide her daughter K a more secure home for them both. The past will weigh heavily on the lives of all three and forgiveness will come at the cost of letting go.

Fingers crossed, my health and body will allow me to stay productive and keep you all updated. Woohoo!

Two women who are new friends getting to know one another go on vacation with two other women and a fifth woman joins them. Friendships. Romance. Grief. Healing. Fulfillment.

This is my work-in-progress, the manuscript on which I am currently working.

And when this revision is complete, I begin working on the next, an intergenerational novel about family dysfunction, survivor guilt, and the power of love and forgiveness.

My friend released another book. This is book 2 but it’s also a standalone. Romance with a dash is sleuthing in an idyllic location… if this sounds like your cup of tea, check it out on Amazon. (Link in comments.)

Blurb: Investigating online scams is Aja Lewis's expertise, but her mother’s untimely death and an unexpected inheritance in Barbados thrust her into uncharted waters. With the charming life coach Delford Parris at her side, can Aja confront her past and risk her heart in paradise?

This is the number of words I revised last week. The goal for this week is to push harder, to get to where I can write The End.

It's been a long time but I have been quietly tapping away at my keyboard, revising the manuscript. Every time I reach a road block, I talk it out with my writer friends and we solve the issue. It's been amazing! It will have to go through a second revision, because I had an idea that I think will make it even greater. Of course, it also complicates things but in the best way possible.

And then I send it off to my primary reader, who will give it the first thumbs up or down. After that, it goes out to my beta readers. Woohoo! The working title sucks but my betas will help me come up with something better. I hope.

How are you all doing? Are you sweltering this summer or having a mild one?

A week ago today we said goodbye to Holly.

It all happened so fast but we always knew that was possible. When she stopped eating, we knew a choice had to be made.

We said goodbye but I still put ice cubes in my glass and turned my to give her some, still wait for her to come back inside, still expect to hear her sigh and whine.

It’s only been a week. The grief has not yet softened. Another week. And then another. Eventually, the space she once filled won’t feel so empty and the silence will feel more normal.

Did you think using up all your storage on gmail was impossible?

Well, I am here to tell you it is not. I took advantage of Meta being down to start cleaning out an email that can no longer receive email because some things are very possible indeed.

But I have to be careful. My fingers are swollen and aching. I don't want to overdo things but I want to get things done.

So tell me, how is your email inbox looking? I challenge you to delete 100 emails (and empty your trash) this week. Easier said than done, believe me. But if I can do it, I know you can. Wish me luck! I still have about 10k to go. LOL!
