Want to know a secret? Fulfillment in this life can't be found apart from joining with the Father in the great commandment and the great commission. That's because it's how He wired you.

If you have the Spirit of God in you, you're going to love and care about the same things God loves and cares about. Scripture tells us time and time again that He cares deeply about the orphan, the widow, the poor, the foreigner and the lost. It's why Jesus describes for us in Luke 15 what God is like. He says in three different parables God pursues, pursues and pursues.

If you're not personally engaged in pursuing one of those people groups, you're not going to feel fulfilled and that's a dangerous place to be for longing hearts will find comfort one way or another. Will it be through the things of this world that can never satisfy or will it be by joining Him on the mission He designed specifically for you?

Just another reason why the church must send its members, why they must help each one discover their Ephesians 2:10 "good works" God prepared in advance for each of them, why they must then "equip them to do the work of the ministry" Ephesians 4:12. This is the great failure of the church age we're living in. Disciples, followers of Jesus, make disciples. If your people aren't making disciples among the lost, Matthew 28:18-20, are they really disciples? If you're not sending your people, are you really shepherds? Bottom line, people who love God love the things God loves, namely the poor, the widow, the orphan, the foreigner living in the land and the lost. How are you doing on that front?
