In July of 2019, I wrote “Since Last July” reflecting on the year I had had since moving from Nashville to Atlanta to attend Candler School of Theology - Emory University in 2018. Leaving a city I never thought I'd leave that was home to friends, places, and trees that I loved was somewhat exciting, but also pretty rough. Finding safe spaces, kindness, laughter and excitement in unexpected places was really sweet. This song was me telling my July 2018 self that it was ultimately going to be ok.
I played this song at a house show 2 days after I wrote it, then forgot it existed until my fiancé heard it this year and insisted I play it out more. So, here goes! With gratitude for growth, my family, friends, my partner, my dog, and all who've supported me and my love for music these past 4 years, this is "Since Last July" live from Gnarly Whale Sounds. Cheers to how much we've all grown since last July, too. ❤️
