🌺🇬🇧 Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom.

During the First World War, more than 65 million men served across the world. Around 8.5 million soldiers lost their lives, including over 700,000 British troops — nearly one in every ten who served. A further 1.75 million returned home wounded, carrying the scars of war for the rest of their lives.

In the Second World War, more than 100 million people served in military forces around the globe. The conflict claimed between 70 and 85 million lives — around 3% of the world’s population. Britain alone lost around 383,000 service personnel and 67,000 civilians to the horrors of war.

We remember not only those who died, but all who served — on the front lines, in factories, in hospitals, and at home. Their courage shaped the world we live in today. Their sacrifice must never be forgotten.
