Which is most important to you?

Buyers in America are purchasing more "old" homes than ever before! With new construction activity having declined for more than two decades, it only makes sense for buyers to find interest in these older homes. In 2021, the typical home purchased was built in 1993 — 28 years ago. For comparison, in 2011, the typical home purchased was also built in 1993, suggesting that year was when home construction started to slow and the gap began to widen.

Another interesting fact: The younger the buyer, the older the home purchased. Around 11% of young millennials purchased a previously owned home as a fixer-upper. Compare this to just 3% of buyers over the age of 66!

Study Reveals Best Markets for Each Stage of Life Some housing markets are a big draw to certain age segments, growing into millennial, Gen X, or baby boomer hot spots.

Speaking of a green kitchen, here is an example of a minimalist one. However, on TikTok and Instagram Reels, it seems that maximalism is beginning to trend. Do you think social media trends will be significant enough to affect the world of interior design? There's some food for thought!

This isn't my traditional post, but I think it's worth a review. Who would've thought that a GREEN kitchen is what's trending? White was to be expected, and blue was definitely a runner-up, but this was a shocker. Homeowners, it might be time to paint your cabinets! The value of your home may be affected in a positive way. 😉

Frozen pipes: We all have to deal with them eventually. Here's something for homeowners to chew on... let's expose the signs of frozen pipes!

If a pipe is frozen, there is already about a 50% chance it has cracked. Call a professional immediately if you spot any of these signs:

- A bulge or crack in a pipe with ice seeping out is a clear indication of a burst pipe.

- Frost on the outside of a pipe.

- A foul smell from the drain or faucet is a less-obvious warning sign. Odors are unable to filter out of the frozen pipe and instead are forced back into the home’s faucet.

- No water or a slow trickle when a faucet is used.

- Whistling and banging coming from pipes, or strange bubbling sounds when you flush a toilet.

- Dampness, puddles, or rings on drywall or ceilings—signs of an urgent issue.
