Grandfamilies & Kinship University - Generations United 05/04/2026

Now Open: Grandfamilies & Kinship University

Grandfamilies & Kinship University (GKU) is a new, national leadership and community-impact program launched by Generations United. Designed for kinship caregivers, including grandaparents, relatives, and close family friends raising children, GKU helps participants build skills, connect with others, and create change in their communities.

Through leadership training, peer learning, and community-based projects, kinship caregivers will build the skills, tools, and relationships to turn their lived experience into action, support their own families, and create change for others like them.
You do not need a formal title or prior leadership to apply. What matters most is your lived experience and your desire to make a difference.

Applications are open through June 8, 2026. A limited number of participants will be selected for this inaugural cohort.
If you are a kinship caregiver, we encourage you to apply. If you support kinship families or know someone who may be interested, please share this opportunity with them.

Apply here: https://www.gu.org/projects/gku/

Grandfamilies & Kinship University - Generations United What is Grandfamilies & Kinship University? These kinship and grandfamilies often form overnight, when a parent faces challenge...

🌻 Seeds planted. Gardens growing. Community thriving! 🌻

Generations Together is beyond thankful for The Home Depot’s (Fayetteville) Aaron Jackson incredible generosity in supporting our Gardens Program!

Our Grandparent and Kinship families recently came together for a group garden build — and it was AMAZING. Because of Home Depot's support, families now have flourishing home gardens to help offset the rising cost of food and put fresh, healthy meals on the table. 🥦🍓🌽

This is what community looks like. This is what generosity looks like. And THIS is why we do what we do.

A special shoutout to Grace Church for hosting this wonderful project and providing the perfect space for our families to come together and get growing! We couldn't have done it without you! 🙏⛪💛

Thank you, Home Depot, for helping our families grow — in every sense of the word! 💪💚

💛 Special Thank You to Clothes Less Traveled! 💛

We are deeply grateful to Clothes Less Traveled for their generous support of Generations Together and this important work serving kinship caregivers and grandfamilies.

Because of your partnership, we are able to provide essential food resources to families who are stepping up in extraordinary ways to care for children. Your support helps ensure that grandparents and relative caregivers have access to the nourishment and stability they need to continue building loving, secure homes.

This impact goes far beyond food—it brings relief, dignity, and hope to the families we serve. 💫

Thank you for believing in our mission and standing alongside our community. Together, we are making a meaningful difference!
