Thank you to State Representative Rick Jasperse for your donation of $250 to support prizes for our Slice of Summer Challenge! 🍕📚

The Slice of Summer Challenge encourages community members to read for 30 minutes every day during the month of May for the chance to win a $10 gift card to a local pizza restaurant.

With the $250 donation from Representative Jasperse, there are now an additional 25 gift card prizes to pizza restaurants in Pickens county for community members to win.

Pickens county Republicans met in Hinton last night for a candidate forum.
Congratulations to our Republican leadership for hosting the forum and putting on a great program. Very well done .
I enjoyed seeing a lot of friends eating some good BBQ and listening to Statewide candidates like Steve Gooch for Lt Governor, our state senate candidates, US congressional candidates. County Commissioner and me too!
Stars of the show were our candidates for our School Board . They did a great job answering questions and comments .

250 year CELEBRATION ! The Daughters of American Revolution had an amazing celebration at the Pickens County Courthouse. Unveiling of a lovely Georgia Marble and bronze monument celebrating our 250th anniversary.
Know Pickens has the video up and the program was perfect.

Enjoyed being with our Pickens county chamber of Commerce folks this morning. It’s a great time to see old friends and new. Important time to listen and find out all sorts of things.
Had the pleasure of sitting with Rob Adkerson who is running to be our Congressman. He’s getting around!!
Northside Hospital was the meeting sponsor . Amazing what they offer in care for our region.
Won a door prize and got a few roses for Marcia ! Great start for the day .

Enjoyed being at the Pickens Youth Leadership Graduation event tonight.
About 20 of our High school Jrs and Srs spent the last nine months learning about leadership their community and one another.
You could tell they go a lot out of their participation in the program.
The youth leadership program is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and so many of their members spend time with the fine young people .
Great to be around some great young people tonight.

Early Mother’s Day Tribute

This is my Peony patch. So beautiful ! Got its start from my Memaw Woodby in Johnson city Tn. Dug em up when they were selling her house . Shared with cousins at a reunion.
Then got a few more from my moms .
And have added a few over the years
Now the patch is a tribute to the women in my life. Every time I work with them I think of them and what they did for me .
We try to share them too ; Marcia is the best at that!
Plus deer don’t eat them!!
