Today is Harvey Milk Day. 🌈

And while so many people know Harvey Milk as one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States… his story is about so much more than politics.

It’s about visibility.
Courage.
Hope.
And the power of ordinary people to change the world simply by refusing to disappear.

Harvey Milk understood something that still matters deeply today:

When LGBTQ+ people are seen…when their stories are heard…when families, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and communities truly know and love LGBTQ+ people…

hearts change.

That truth still echoes decades later.

At a time when LGBTQ+ people — especially transgender youth — are once again being targeted by fear, misinformation, and political attacks, Harvey Milk’s message feels just as urgent:

“Hope will never be silent.”

And neither will we.

Today we honor Harvey Milk not only for the barriers he broke, but for the countless lives he helped inspire — LGBTQ+ people, allies, parents, advocates, and everyday people who decided love was bigger than fear.

May we continue building the kind of world where LGBTQ+ people are not merely tolerated ... but safe, celebrated, protected, and deeply loved.
