Great resilience has shown bright in our community throughout this pandemic. Businesses have adapted their services and offerings to suit the changes around them, like parklets creating more outdoor seating, a self-guided audio tour with Astoria Underground Tours, and a local-grown app for food orders with delivery service called Slurpalicious.

Lisa Parks is amazing! I first met Lisa, the weekend she came to Seaside to interview for the Wine Steward job at Safeway. She came with a dream - to work in the Oregon wine industry - and it has been a pleasure to watch her manifest her dream. She cut her teeth on Stella Artois Summer Hell at Safeway, became the most incredible wine rep (for Galaxy) that we ever had the pleasure of working with and now, has her own wine bar in Astoria. This morning, I needed an unexpected bottle of wine. At 10 am, I was standing in the wine isle of Seaside Safeway, without a clue. I texted Lisa with some names and said, "which one should I buy?" She answered right back and my problem was solved. Her fabulous customer service continues. Thank you , Lisa!

Many of you have asked me about the framed picture of Herb's Tavern that I have on the bar. My great-uncle Herb owned the bar (the oldest bar in Friday Harbor), and though Uncle Herb has been gone for years, the bar was still in operation. That is until yesterday.
Downtown Friday Harbor had a huge fire and unfortunately the Tavern was one of the buildings destroyed.
Fire is a bitch. I don't understand why things that I love keep getting destroyed by fire? Maybe I was an arsonist in my former life?
Anyway, it got me thinking how a bar is not just a bar. The same thing goes for a bottle shop, coffee shop, tap room, brew pub, cafe,, etc. These aren't just buildings. These are places where friendships are made, relationships are formed, communities are strengthened, and what we all need to survive this crazy world.
My heart is broken today for the community of Friday Harbor. They lost a very special place. 💔

Get ready for Second Saturday Art Walk!
So excited to have an extended show from Shelby Chandler. Her beautiful photos are printed on wood which gives them a unique texture! And...she's brought some new things to share!
Open Saturday from 1-9pm. Cheers Astoria!

How about starting the weekend with some crazy new wines??
🍷 Some cool new imports including a stellar Spanish Tempranillo from R. Lopez de Heredia!
🍷 How about two new Sauvignon blancs? One local and one from South Africa!
🍷Two new Oregon reds from Martin Woods. These are new to Brut and you'll love them!
🍷A few new sparkling wines (of course!).
🍷And...the long awaited new vintages from Gonc/Grape Abduction Company! This is an awesome winery from Slovenia and a Brut favorite!! Super limited so no holds please. Just come on in!
🥂 Time permitting, I'll try to go into more detail in my stories. But for now...Happy Friday!

Welcome Domaine la Salette Floc de Gascogne ("flower of Gascony") Blanc!
🌸 This is a vin de liqueur (fortified sweet wine) made of 1/3 Armagnac and 2/3 fresh Colombard grape juice.
🌸 Based on a recipe that has been used in Gascogne since the 16th century!
🌸 Flavors of fruit, almond and honey.
🌸 Pour it over ice or add dry vermouth, Cointreau, and bitters for a refreshing cocktail! I would love to see what some of our creative local bartenders could do with this!
🌸 $29/bottle. I have one open, so stop by for a taste!

Happy Saturday Brut Squad! I've been very unsuccessfully trying to find time to post new wines for over a week! So, if time permits, I'll try to go into more detail on my stories but here you go...
🍷Domaine Tempier Bandol Rouge. Mostly Mourvèdre and an absolute iconic wine!
Ridge Lytton Springs Zinfandel blend. Also amazing!
🍷How about a brut rosé from Schramsberg? Mirabelle is a "second label" and SO good!
🍷A cool new Pet Nat, a few new vintage Oregon wines (yes...Brooks is BACK) and a lovely Albariño.
🍷Two new Oregon Pinots! Can you ever have too many?
🍷And a few new import reds including a deal Bordeaux, an organic Grenache blend from the Southern Rhone made by a 5th generation mother/daughter team, and an organic (no added sulfite) Spanish wine.
🥂Have a great weekend!

Yes, I'm a wine bar but as I always takes a lot of beer to sell good wine! And...I want to make sure that I have an enjoyable beverage for the non-wine drinkers.

Also making sure that the beer tastes good and that starts with clean tap lines! Thankfully...I have Ben in my life to make sure that happens. It's one less thing that I have to worry about and he does an AMAZING job.
Thanks for all you do @bgdraftservices !! 🍻

A very delayed post, but I'm so excited about the spring window refresh from @wonderingincolour.

Carrie (and her assistant Tierney) did such an AMAZING job! Stop by and check it out! Maybe we'll get another day of sunshine this week? Maybe?
Happy Spring! 🌷🥂🌷

Thank you all SO much for voting for Brut! It was amazing to be open as a wine shop AND a wine bar this past year!
Your continued support of this dream is SO INCREDIBLY APPRECIATED! ♥️🥂♥️

Photos from Brut Wine Bar's post 03/17/2022

New wine alert!
🍷Two new Oregon Pinots! Illahe Willamette Valley 2020 (delicious and not at all smoky) and a non-Vintage Pinot from Brick House. As always...Brick House is certified biodynamic! And, to make it even better, they are giving $3 of every bottle sold to Mercy Corps for their Ukraine relief efforts. 🇺🇦
🍷An organic and biodynamic Italian Pecorino. Good minerality and a hint of nutmeg on the finish.
🍷More from Italy...a deal Orvieto, a Pinot Grigio from Muri-Gries (The producer of that delicious Schiava on the glass list), a killer Fiano and a Dolcetto.
⭐ And lastly... A new non-alcoholic option! Welcome to Brut Enroot Tea. This is a cool project crafted by James Beard chefs! Organic, sparkling cold brew tea! Yum! I brought in the peach hibiscus to start but will be adding a few more flavors!

Happy birthday to these two awesome women! Thanks for celebrating at Brut! Such a fun night!
Happy Birthday Carla and Amy! 🥂🎉🥂🎉

So, last night felt very much like we were teleported back to March 14th, 2020. That night was also the Second Saturday Art Walk and people were really starting to get nervous about the pandemic. I assumed that it would be slow, but instead, it was a complete party. The last hurrah. I don't think any of us could have predicted what followed.

Yesterday I got to pour wine for you...inside...not wearing my mask (and wearing my glasses!). AMAZING! It felt weird, but pretty damn great.

Thank you for such an amazing week and for being so much fun. You're the best Brut Squad a girl could want!

Happy Art Walk Saturday!
Brut is proud to be featuring the artwork of Shelby Chandler. Shelby was one of my first customers at Brut and so I'm honored to have HER first show here! She's also the artist that did the awesome Rosie on the chalkboard at Brut!
Stop by and check this out. Open Saturday till 9pm! Cheers 🥂

If you're a fan of BIG Washington wines...this post is for you!! New today...

🍷 Pomum Shya Cabernet Sauvignon (78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Cabernet Franc).
🍷Idilico Wine Graciano Reserve (and not pictured, their Albariño). Idilico is the only Washington winery focusing exclusively on Spanish varietals!

Such a fun afternoon on the Columbia River! The Navios Unite passed under the Astoria Megler Bridge and is heading up the river to Portland! This was the largest container ship that we've ever had in the Columbia River! And...Buoy Beer was the perfect viewing spot!
📸 Thanks to @buoybeer and @andimcarthur for some of these cool photos

There might have been a cool project being filmed at Brut tonight. Stay tuned...

Happy Saturday!
Here's the new wine lineup for the day!
☀️ Bodega Vidal Soblechero Vina Clavidor. A white wine from Spain. 50% Viura, 50% Macabeo. Old vines and a deal!
☀️Just in time for sunshine...the new rosé of Grenache from Upper Five. The vineyard is near Talent, Oregon and is farmed organic and biodynamic.
☀️ Two skin contact wines from Etheric Wine Workshop. This is a project from John Grochau of Grochau Cellars. An Auxerrois and a Pinot Gris! Fun!
☀️How about a new sparkling rosé from Eyrie! A blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Chasselas.
What an amazing selection! Cheers!
