Fort George Brewery + Public House sits on the original settlement site of Fort Astoria, founded in 1811. The oldest US settlement west of the Rockies, Fort Astoria was the Pacific Fur Company's primary trading post in the Northwest. Under temporary British authority during the War of 1812, it was renamed "Fort George" after King George III. In 1924, the current Fort George Building was erected to

Opening earlier this year, Ruse Brewing Crust Collective on the Waterfront in Vancouver, WA, is a chapel built to honor the gods of pizza. Though much has changed on the Fort George block over the years, you’ll still find the Pizza Upstairs. We’ve been making wood-fired pizza in Astoria for almost a decade and our happiness upon learning that our friends were serving pizza and beer could only be measured in more beer. Which is why we teamed up with Ruse and their brand new Crust collective to brew Pizza Pals - the perfect beer for pizza. This collaborative brew is packed with Nelson and Simcoe hops alongside the fanciest malts we could muster for a balanced, snappy American IPA.
Come with us, celebrate the world’s most logical food and beverage pairing all winter long, November to February. You can try Pizza Pals at Fort George, Ruse Brewing and Ruse Brewing Crust Collective TOMORROW, and all over the Pacific Northwest very, very soon.

It doesn't get much more local than a local business hosting a group of local craftspeople made up of our employees, family & friends. If you tend to give people presents in the winter - for whatever reason - this is one of the places you can get those presents. And have a soul-warming winter cocktail from the Taproom at the same time.
We'll see you on Sunday, 11/27, for an afternoon of art, crafts, jewelry, clothing, cocktails, and more in the Fort George Lovell Showroom from 11-4pm.
Consider for a moment... the blackberry. A singular wild fruit. Its shape, its thorny, arcing biennial canes, aggregate drupelets, propensity to stain everything it touches. We packed over 850lbs of blackberry in this beer before adding lemon zest & puree resulting in Consider the Bramble - the next installment in our "Consider the..." Fruited Sour Series. This beer leads with a quick punch of tartness before delivering a smooth, berry pie finish.
Consider the Bramble releases on draft and in 16oz 4-packs at the Pubs tomorrow. Pre-sales for direct shipping in OR & WA open now - use code "SHIPFOR10" for 1/2 off shipping at https://fortgeorgebrewery.com/shop/
Since the beginning of time, people have slightly misinterpreted and reinterpreted each others words... and beers.
The study of words’ original intentions has always been a thing - see Yaska, Sanskrit Grammarian circa 7th Century BCE. Same with beer. Which leads us to the question - what exactly is a barleywine? Etymology is a blend of two very different but equally delicious variations of barleywine. One a rich, toasty, black barrel-aged barleywine (Etym) and the other a classic, Willet & barrel-aged American style barleywine (Ology). After months of study and reflection, we blended the two with a third, younger American barleywine to create this bold and balanced beer.
Etymology bottles available for pre-order via the online beer store now, releasing at the Pubs this weekend. Direct shipping in OR & WA at https://fortgeorgebrewery.com/shop/ - use code "SHIPFOR10" at checkout for 1/2 off shipping 💌
Are you in the mood for Dark as Night or Sunny and Bright? Dismal Nitch is a dark lager with all of the deep, toasted, malty flavors you expect from Fall in the PNW. But Crysknife IPA will meet you in your shimmery, golden yellow dreams of summer: hazy, tropical and impossibly bright.

A bonanza of bananas in a barrel aged imperial stout? We call it a... Bananaza.
In this modern age, one encounters but few opportunities to transcend the mundane. Which is why we’re offering you the opportunity to go truly Bananaza with a Barrel Aged Imperial Stout full of Thai Bananas, Cacao, and Coconut. Bananaza was aged for almost a year in Willett Distillery Whiskey barrels, lovingly caressed, and frequently tested for maximum flavor extraction. Hold tight and let ‘er buck.
Bananaza releases in bottles and on draft at the Pubs this weekend, with limited cases available for direct shipping in OR & WA at https://fortgeorgebrewery.com/shop/ 🍌🥥🍫

Hey Washington, do you miss Fort George? Don’t fret - starting today, you can go to Peaks and Pints in Tacoma, WA for a pint of their new house IPA: Fort George’s “Blue Mouse”
The bartenders at Peaks and Pints recently came out to Astoria and helped us brew the perfect IPA to pour all year long in their taproom. Blue Mouse IPA is named for the Historic Blue Mouse Theater in Tacoma and its counterparts across the Northwest. Though Astoria’s Blue Mouse Theatre shut up shop long ago, it once operated out of the same building in which we brewed this very beer.
Try Blue Mouse IPA on draft at Peaks and Pints (Tacoma, WA) now and the Fort George Pubs starting this weekend. Cheers to 6 years, Peaks and Pints! 🍻
On the scariest night in the spookiest town on the coast, the most haunting (and fun) place to be is the Halloween Hellorium at Fort George Brewery and Public House. We’ll be gathering on the block for a night of live music, costumes, and… you guessed it, beer!
Prizes awarded to the best costumes of the night. Festivities begin at 7pm in the Lovell Building - all ages welcome!
The final installment in this year's Seasonal Lager Series is Dismal Nitch, a toasty, toe-warming dark lager. Named after the depressing little cove just east of the Megler Bridge, where Lewis & Clark got rained on in 1805, this beer boasts aromas of roasted coffee, dark chocolate and toasty bread. Mild sweetness and flavors of roasted malt result in the perfect lager to accompany rainy season on the North Coast.
Dismal Nitch releases on draft, and in cans at the Pubs tomorrow - making its way to your favorite PNW beer stop soon. Don't want to wait? Use code SHIPFOR10 for half-off beer shipping in OR & WA. Shop at https://fortgeorgebrewery.com/shop/

You could adopt them all! But maybe you should just pick one. There are dozens of potential best friends waiting for you at CCAS.
You can meet some of them in the Fort George Courtyard this Saturday, 10/29 for a meet & greet and pet costume party from 2-4PM while we celebrate the release of Pet of the Week ESB - 100% of proceeds from Pet of the Week benefit our local shelter! Each can features 1/10 pets currently available for adoption 🐾😻

Crysknife, our hazy collaboration with Our Mutual Friend Brewery, is back. If you’re in the market for a case of beer that can stand up to the onslaught of savory foods and scented candles that will be November 2022, it’s time to get some Crysknife shipped directly to your door. Bonus points if you sign for your case of beer while wearing your Fremen Stillsuit.
Our head R&D Brewer, Matt, is getting married!
Like most humans on the verge of dedicating themselves to a permanent partnership, Matt found himself contemplating yeast. How did humanity make this massive leap in cognition from leaving cereal grains out on the floor of the communal cave to selectively breeding highly specialized single-celled microorganisms en masse in order to accentuate or develop certain flavors and aromas? Was it magic? Fate? Capitalism? Who knows.
What we do know is that we were all eager to see what these two highly specialized purpose-bred yeast strains could do together. Barbarian & London 3 are perfect yeast partners, frequently used in tandem at a few popular breweries in Vermont.
Like all good partnerships, Partners Pale Ale is built on a solid, biscuity foundation and has notes of delicious fruit, resinous pine and a soothing, smooth bitterness that gets richer with time. Releasing in the pubs this Saturday!
Spiders are good luck for breweries, especially Fort George. You can find Cavatica Stout (cavatica is the Latin name for our average brewery spider) around the Pacific Northwest year-round, but Lycosa (the Latin name for a wolf spider) has a bigger bite. With deep, satisfying sweetness and a dark, rich fruit aroma, Lycosa is a heavy lifter from start to finish and has never skipped a leg day.
Aged in IJW Whiskey Barrels for 18 months, Lycosa is an imperial stout with fangs. Releasing on draft and in bottles at the Pubs this Saturday, with limited distribution along the coast.
All good things come from the land. Trees, flowers, carrots, bacon, and - of course - beer. Our North Coast communities are deeply dependent on the land: from productive fisheries to small-scale farms. Which is why we’re proud to be releasing this Double IPA with Oregon Agricultural Trust as part of a statewide campaign to raise awareness and funds, protecting Oregon agriculture for the next generation.
Cheers to the Land was brewed with Salmon-Safe ingredients from Mainstem Malt, Crosby Hops, and Indie Hops. 10% of all draft and can sales will benefit Oregon Agricultural Trust and its mission to help protect agricultural land in Oregon. Grab a pint or 4-pack to-go at the Pubs starting this Saturday, releasing across Oregon soon after.

The Carnival of Stout returns on Saturday, February 18th, 2023.
Festival of Dark Arts is a celebration of stout, craftsmanship, and all practitioners of the unique and curious arts. The worn pavement of the Fort George block has seen contortionists, tattoo artists, fire jugglers, ice sculptors, blacksmiths, leather workers, beer painters, artisan coffee roasters, belly dancers, trapeze artists and tarot readers. They all go well with stout. And we will have a LOT of stout (60+ to be exact.)
Tickets will be released at Sunrise (7:30AM) on Black Friday, November 25th. Limit 4 tickets per purchase. More info at https://fortgeorgebrewery.com/blog/event/festival-of-dark-arts-2023

We've got two new draft only beers hitting the block this weekend
Squeegee Skilz Pale Ale - Wondering if you have the skilz required to be a brewer? Been working on your home-brew recipes and experimenting with new hop varieties? Tasting specialty malts? You know the difference between a fermenter and a brite tank? But how are you with a squeegee? That's what really matters. As an ode to the time, sweat, and happy tears it takes to build up your brewing skilz, we made Squeegee Skilz Pale Ale - a collaboration brew with out of Newport, OR. They've been around for a long time and are in the exciting process of building out a new brewhouse. And yes - they're pretty good with a squeegee.
Lower Columbia Lager - One of the best things about having room to stretch our legs at our new Production Brewery on Astoria’s Waterfront is that we finally have the tank space in our R&D breweries to brew a lot of lagers. Fancy lagers, dark lagers, hoppy lagers, malty lagers, Vienna style lagers, Mexican style lagers, bombastic lagers, shy lagers, friendly lagers. We have so many lager dreams to fulfill. Much like Lower Columbia Lager - a light, crisp, standard lager with a tiny, satisfying hint of sweetness.
Try both new releases at the Pubs starting TODAY! Very limited draft heading to some of the PNW soon.
A few weeks ago, some of you brought us your homegrown hops and we spent the whole afternoon picking them off the bine before dumping the lot into a smooth, delicious blonde ale. If you dropped off your homegrown hops, you received a gift card for a crowler of this beer. and now, you can bask in the knowledge that your little baby hops grew up into a fabulous Fort George Beer.
Grab a pint or crowler to-go of CoHoperative Ale at the Pubs starting tomorrow. 🍻
Fort George is looking to add to our team. We are currently accepting applications for...
- Packaging (Brewery)
- Night & Weekend Cooks (Pubs)
- Dishwashers (Pubs)
Benefits include paid sick, PTO, fair wage + tips, health insurance, retirement plan, food & beer benefits and more! Visit https://fortgeorgebrewery.com/jobs/ to learn more & apply online.
The Power Cycle series was designed to focus your attention on one dominant hop flavor while balancing your experience with a functional network of malt & varied hop additions. The next release in this rotating Pale Ale series, Power Cycle: Waimea, boasts aromas of fresh citrus and resinous pine, followed by balanced bitter flavors of grapefruit and tangerine.
With each recipe reboot comes new label art - keep an eye out for Power Cycle: Waimea releasing at the Pubs this weekend and across the PNW soon after.
