It’s International Women’s Day! If you’re new here, helloooo! I’m Holly, and I’m gonna introduce myself to newbies and post a massive update:

🤓 I’m a maker/illustrator/ecommerce nerd. So I’m a Slashie! And I’ve been doing a bunch of things with each of those slashies. 😂

✨ I tend to not update often when doing some deep work. Now that I’ve come up for air, I’m ready to bring y’all along for the ride, yay! Get in the car, we’re going updating!

🦄 First up- Marshmueller, aka my handmade business: I’ve discontinued some product categories, hired a sewist (go check out her yummy fibers at @beautifulfiberlife ), and am still selling wholesale (to indie retailers), and to folks directly on my website. I have some new prints coming…I just have to shoot them first. 📷😂

✏️ Next up- Illustration! I used to draw a lot as a kid and was the cartoonist for my high school paper (remind me to tell you a story someday of how I pissed off some racists in my tiny high school), and have picked up my pencil again over the last 2-3 years. Initially my stickers, DIY kits, etc. were sold under the Marshmueller brand name. But that just didn’t feel right. So I created a NEW brand and name that is much more fitting: hollymarshmallow. I am nearly done with the brand design, and I cannot wait to show it off. 😍

👾 Next next up- services. I really love sharing my knowledge and teaching others when it comes to running a creative, product-based business. I’ve been helping folks for more than five years, whether it’s mentoring, consulting, or just commiserating about living life as a creative. Now I’m helping folks build brands, websites, or email marketing that reflects who they/their business truly are on the inside. This biz is Ecommerce Arcade, and while I’m 95% done with the foundation, I’ve still got a brand and website to design!

🐿 You might be thinking that’s a lot, and yeah, it is. But as someone who was diagnosed with ADHD as a grown-ass adult, it works for me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

🦀 I’m also a Cancer, enneagram 9, and a breast cancer survivor. The irony of my astrological Sun sign is not lost on me.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for being here! More from me soon. ❤️😘

This Thursday (as in tomorrow, February 17th)! I’ll be teaching a virtual workshop for my local Clatsop county business peeps! It’s mostly for entrepreneurs who have an established brick and mortar/in-person business and want to take the next step with their online presence. It’s a free workshop, and it’s jam-packed full of info to help you get started, whether you are just starting with a page, or even have your own website and want to take it further. Link in bio to register!

Today is my NED Flanders Day! It’s the nickname I conjured for my anniversary of being No Evidence of Disease. 💪🏻🤘🏻

It’s been two years since I had my cancer surgery- can you believe it?! It feels like it was yesterday…and it also feels like it’s been a decade. There were quite a few silver linings during the crud, but mostly: it sucked. Having the majority of my 18-month long cancer treatment in the midst of a pandemic is something that is just cruel. I was hoping to throw a big ol party when I got done, dammit!

But I now have my life, my health, my hair, and my amazing husband and kids to celebrate with- hooray for cake and champagne (Martinellis for the kids, ofc).

This year’s cake phrase (delicious cake by @cannonbeachbakery) is brought to you by @thecancerpatient, who have given me so much laughter and validation. I wish I’d known about them when I was first diagnosed.

Now I have another year until I get to come up with a new phrase for next year’s cake. Cheers! 🥂

I’m in the Willy Week Gift Guide! No, the "Willy Week" is not a euphamism, it's our nickname for the Willamette Week, an independent weekly publication in Portland, Oregon. And my I Heart Oregon Bib and Burp Cloth Set is in their Gift Guide!! It's part of the "6 Gifts for the Committed PNW Lifestyle" section. Click the nifty product tag in the photo to snag your own bundle- do it before I close up shipping operations this Friday!

This Friday! I’ll be going live on IG to have a quick chat about what I’ve been up to and telling you about something that rhymes with divot. 😜 Be there! Or don’t…I’m not your mom.

Eeeeee Craftcation Registration for ithe 2022 conference is open NOW!

“What the what is Craftcation, Holly?” you might ask.

Craftcation is:

🌴in beautiful Ventura, CA

👩🏼‍🎤 a conference where you can come as your badass self, just as you are

🎨 a crafty respite that’s not your kitchen table (although kitchen table craftiness is always encouraged)

🤓 a business retreat where you can learn ALL the things (you may even end up nerdin’ out with me!)

✨ a magical event where I go to not only recharge and fill my cup, but also be among like-minded folks who “get it.”

🦩Early Bird Registration ends December 1 buuuut I would not wait, as the incredible folks at @dearhandmadelife have limited attendance to keep our community as safe as possible.

Click my link on profile* to snag your ticket and I’ll see you there!

While I was undergoing cancer treatment, I managed to find a few silver linings. One was the sheer amount of love and support I received (for real, y'all are incredible people!). Another was the fact that cancer is not contagious.
But if it was, I would do everything I could to avoid anyone else having to go through what I did.
Even if you have had COVID-19, you might be thinking of forgoing the vaccine. I get it- new treatments can look scary. But cancer patients undergo new treatments all the time. These treatments aren't some invention by a "mad-scientist" or concocted having "snake oil" parallels- they are rigorously studied, tested, and peer-reviewed before they even are tested on a human.
That's the same thing with the vaccines for COVID-19. The technology used for some of the vaccines (mRNA) might seem like a brand new concept, but it's been around longer than you might think. These vaccines went through the same process as the polio vaccine, chemotherapy, and the varicella vaccine (aka chicken pox, and folks under 30 may have never experienced chicken pox because of-- surprise! the vaccine). These vaccines are effective. Even if I wasn't a recent cancer survivor, I would have jumped at the chance to help keep my children and my community safe. And truth be told: the vaccine side effects are nothing compared to the side effects of chemotherapy.
The vaccines for COVID-19 reduce the likelihood of getting really sick, being hospitalized, or dying. The vaccines also help reduce that happening to the people in my life who I love and care about. Not to mention, I'm still having follow ups with my oncologist every three months, and I couldn't imagine going to the cancer center unvaccinated. No one wants to be the one who brought COVID-19 to the cancer center. No. One.
PSA aside, I hope that even if you've been on the fence about the vaccine, you will get your shot this fall. Do it for me. Do it for folks at the cancer center. Do it for every vulnerable person in your community. You never know who is truly vulnerable.
Thanks for reading, friends. Hugs.

Oh haaaaai it’s uhhh been a while.

I was doing pretty good being consistent about posting here and sending emails (seriously, I was planning and scheduling stuff consistently each week, from January to end of June this year! Like a REAL business owner, or something 😂).

Then I told myself that I’d just take the first week of July off…

And now it’s October. 😳

I guess I needed the break.

Sooo…hi! I’m Holly. You may have seen me from such things as “Ghosted From Instagram,” “I’m Not There: Social Edition,” and “The Inbox That Had Too Much [Emails].”

Things at Marshmueller Secret Labs are still humming along, but I have been working on some incredibly exciting things and perhaps I just needed one fewer thing on my plate. It’s ok to take a break.

This month marks my TENTH year in business and it’s super exciting. I might even do something fun to celebrate. 👀 If you’re not on my email list already, ya better get on it (link in profile).

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming…👾
