Wolves have been in my life for nearly as long as I can remember. At the zoo my dad, Bob Elgin, directed in Des Moines, Iowa, I was the “wolf-girl.” It was my responsibility to tame a pair of half-wild black wolf cubs named Hansel and Gretel. I literally lived in their enclosure, hand fed them, talked to them, did everything in my power to erase the fear they felt of me and other human beings. Oth

Every little bit helps, and Wolves of the Rockies is a boots on the ground group that actively supports wolves in the Yellowstone area.

An update on the killing of Yellowstone Wolf 926F
We have been gathering information and talking with individuals that have information pertinent to the killing of Spitfire. Her death is tragic but it is critical that it not be in vain. There are those that live close to the Yellowstone Park and take pleasure in killing Yellowstone Wolves. For no other reason than knowing they killed a Yellowstone wolf and perhaps sadly more important to them they hurt the Yellowstone wolf loving public.

It is critical that we organize and build good rather than stoop to their irrational hatred level and cast stones. We are the silent majority and that needs to change. When you visit Yellowstone and find your way to Silvergate and Cooke City spend your money wisely! Show your displeasure by where you spend your hard earned money.

Wolves of the Rockies have been in touch with Senator Tester and Daines office concerning Yellowstone wolves. We are currently in talks with a Montana Billboard company in an effort to bring attention to the plight of Yellowstone wolves and soon grizzly bears. Ninety percent of what we are trying to accomplish is under the radar. We have an army of followers and supporters that believe the time has come for the discussion on how do we provide permanent protection for Yellowstone wolves.

All hands on deck! We will need everyone's help to get this ball rolling. Phone calls, meeting with your elected officials, emailing to name a few options. If you can provide a large audience we would come to your town and talk to those that care about Yellowstone wolves.
If you would like to help immediately we could use some help funding a Pro Yellowstone Wolf billboard between the Park and Bozeman. If everyone gave just one dollar we can begin to get our message out. Please just don't sit on the sidelines. Help us help Yellowstone Wolves!

Guest column: Killing wolves truly should be the last option 05/08/2018

Wise words by Erik Fernandez of Oregon Wild...

Guest column: Killing wolves truly should be the last option The Bulletin recently reported on the status of Oregon’s wolf recovery. The top-line numbers showed cause for celebration. But a deeper dive shows another public agency that has lost its way. Exactly 124 wolves have been counted in Oregon. That’s 123 more than just a decade ago. But imagine if t...
