A new FEMA Call Center just opened up in Weaverville to aid natural-disaster survivors and is in great need of bilingual workers. We anticipate many callers from Puerto Rico, plus Spanish speakers from Texas, Florida, and California. The company, Epsilon, is the local group that has contracted with FEMA to lead the work. They seem to be a young and growing company. Any help you can provide spreading the word is greatly appreciated. Applicants must be 18 y.o. and older and US citizens. Pay is $17/hr and hours are flexible. See, and distribute liberally, the attached fliers.

To apply:
1. Call: 828-398-5494 or
2. Email: [email protected]
3. Visit their website: epsilon-inc.com/job-openings

Hello, a friend recently told me there was someone there on Mondays doing free massage therapy, yet I don't see that on the schedule (on your website)-is that not happening anymore? Having a neck issue for the past couple of months and was considering driving over but not wanting to use gas if it's not happening (10mpg). Was also told about 12 Baskets yesterday by a man I met downtown, not sure if that's the same as the AYH Free Food event on your schedule or not(??). The schedule says the AYH Free Food event happened last Mon, and is happening next Mon, but it's not listed on the calendar for today. If someone could please clarify as soon as possible that would be greatly appreciated, so I can make a decision about whether to drive over or not, it's probably about $4 in gas or so round-trip, and trying to conserve funds. Thanks very much for all your efforts to promote community. :)

A Community Center dedicated to the empowerment of emerging leaders through capacity building, service and liturgy.

In light of all the events of the past few weeks, we are thrilled to announce that the Rev. Naomi Tutu will be joining the All Souls Cathedral and the Kairos West community!!!

We are very excited to announce The Reverend Naomi Tutu has accepted the position of Missioner for Racial and Economic Reconciliation at the Cathedral of All Souls. Rev. Tutu’s responsibilities will include areas identified through our Koinonia discernment, and she will also serve as Director of Kairos West Community Center.

Rev. Tutu’s experience in racial and economic reconciliation, the Truth and Reconciliation process, and her work with national and international community development, higher education, pastoral care, and liturgical leadership has prepared her to be an ideal leader for this work within our community.

All Saints Day, November 4, 2018 will be Rev. Tutu’s first day at All Souls. Please join us as we celebrate this Spirit-led and exciting transition and welcome Rev. Naomi Tutu to the staff and community of The Cathedral of All Souls.

Are you a service worker in Asheville? Come to Kairos West on Tuesday, June 26 for a Service Workers Assembly.

"Service industry workers are a crucial component to the thriving tourist economy in the Asheville area. Yet while the coffee shops, restaurants, and hotels produce more and more wealth for their owners, the workers they depend on continue to struggle with a precarious existence. In addition to poverty, service workers also deal with a disproportionate rate of mental health issues, racism, misogyny, and transphobia. This assembly is an opportunity for us to come together and discuss the experiences we share and how we can collectively fight back against the various oppressions we face as service industry workers."

Just two more weeks until our Service Workers Assembly!

China Plus America

AJ Huang moved from China to the U.S. in 2017, eventually settling in Asheville, North Carolina. As a stranger in a new land, she was relieved to find a very welcoming community.

“I did not truly know what ‘community’ meant before I encountered the people at a local center called Kairos West. They welcomed me and made me feel seen and cared for. I really hope there are communities built this way in every country and city.”

Click on AJ’s photos to read how she embraced the community and vice versa.

The good and hard work of a mission enterprise!
Thank you to all those in our circle last evening...our circle of abundance! Monday nights at 5, during the month of June, Kairos West Community is gathering to hold an intentional and sacred space of discernment and work around our core values and how we might be called into our work together.
This work is good and hard and ... abundance comes from the relationships we craft in this sacred space.
