Casting for Hope

Comments

Beautiful WNC weekend for supporting Casting for Hope.
Thank you Kathy for everything.
Saw the flyers in Carolina Beach about the 5k coming up on Sept 22, but can't seem to find info on your website for more details; such as race map, costs, sign up deadline, etc. I am interested in learning more please
Is anyone interested in splitting a rental for Friday and Saturday night? Would rather not commute from Hendersonville. Full disclosure- I've been known to snore, but I've never heard it. LOL

Yeah! it worked, thanks
Happy New Year's to the whole crew of Casting for Hope !
Kathy, has not only been a good ear when in time of suffering, but also there to help in other areas for all of us, and I am so grateful!
May God richly blessed you, Kathy and John, Taylor and Dan and the rest of the crew for blessing us and giving us a time of reprieve, that is so much needed when going through some of the biggest trials of Our Lives! !
Thanks to our wonderful guide and teacher Jeff Haney! I love the sunlight and jumping fish!!!

An ovarian and gynecological cancer assistance organization for patients living in WNC. Casting for Hope is a 501c3 organization. Casting for Hope is committed to providing financial assistance to women in western North Carolina who are living with ovarian or other gynecological cancers.

But more than that, Casting for Hope is committed to attending to the emotional and spiritual needs of these same women and their families through fly-fishing retreats, fly-tying and rod-building clinics, and other avenues of personal and family re-creation. Our financial assistance focuses on women who are experiencing economic hardships due to treatment costs, while our retreat experiences serve women and their families and friends regardless of financial need. Retreats focus on emotional and spiritual healing in the out of doors, chasing trout with a fly rod, and experiencing comfort by running waters.

Our 10th Annual CFH April Tournament was one to remember! Despite it being the most difficult fundraising year in our organization’s history, and a Saturday downpour that significantly decreased the event’s overall fish count, we still were able to raise ~$50K throughout the weekend. Swipe to see the final leaderboards for individuals and teams in both fishing and fundraising and commend them on a job well done. Congrats to all of the anglers who placed and a big THANK YOU to everyone who pledged to make this year such a big success! #WhereEveryFishCaughtFightsCancer

[01/24/21]   Announcing the 10th Annual Casting for Hope!

The 10th annual Casting for Hope will be April 9-11, 2021 and make use of the private waters at the Casting for Hope Retreat Center and the public delayed harvest waters of the Upper and Lower North Toe and Cane River (not Cane Creek!).

The registration for this event will open at noon EST on Saturday, February 6. The field will feature 8 teams / 40 anglers. Registration will fill once the 40 angler limit from both the team and individual registration forms is reached, following our long pattern of honoring solo entrees.

Reminders will be announced via e-mail and social media and the registration form will be delivered via social media and e-mail the morning of Saturday, February 6. As in the past, registration will not be confirmed until registration payment is made within 24 hours of submission and registration fees are non-refundable.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and continued safety-first approach that Casting for Hope takes, the 10th Annual Casting for Hope will be a competitor-controlled event in April with hopes of having a fall tandem team event that could very well be volunteer controlled by then if we're in a (hopefully!) much more normal time.

We look forward to responsibly celebrating a decade of service to the women and families Casting for Hope has assisted through our loyal supporters such as yourselves!

12/24/2020

Sending a huge THANK YOU to our supporters during this most difficult year. If you are still in a comfortable position to give and are considering where to direct your year-end donations, we could use the support to ensure that we can offer uninterrupted financial assistance to those who need it most yet again in 2021. Here's to hoping for a much better year ahead. Sending love to our entire Casting for Hope family. 💙

In addition to our financial assistance program, we offer emotional assistance through our Survivors’ and Caregivers’ retreats. Some of our best memories have been made at our retreat center where tremendous relationships have been formed and where women and their caregivers are constantly reminded of their strength. Here is a photo from one of our recent retreats -- we can’t wait to get back out in the water sometime in the future to give some wonderful people a relaxing weekend away.

It’s September!!! This means it’s Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. We recently created these teal bags to give out to patients who are currently receiving treatment at HOPE Women's Cancer Center in Asheville, NC. Make sure to stay tuned to learn more about ovarian cancer and what we have coming up as we “teal” out during ovarian cancer awareness month.

09/09/2020

We’ve been hunkered down at Casting for Hope since March, ensuring that all services to patients and families were delivered without interruption during this difficult time. We’re thankful to our community of support who have been so helpful to us across the years to make that a reality! But we need your help now...so with that in mind, some good news from us to you!

Although we cannot congregate in person this year, we are bringing Hope in the Hills BACK on Friday, October 2, at 7pm, albeit virtually, for a wonderful evening of music, community, and support of our cause. Via zoom, we’re putting together a night that is as close as possible to the event you all know and love, and we hope you’ll join us from the comfort of your living room for a celebration of hope that will assuredly be good for the soul.

This year we’re excited to be joined by a marvelous cast of musicians including Balsam Range, Mipso, and Mandolin Orange. We are huge fans of each of these bands and know you all will love hearing them play some tunes and talking about why they are supporting the work we do at Casting for Hope.

For the local crowd, Deluxe ($50) and VIP ($75) attendees will be able to yet again be treated to complimentary tasty food and beverages, available for pickup in Morganton before the event. The VIP supporters will once again be treated to an amazing dinner from Countryside.

If you’re looking to just tune in from Zoom and not partake in food/beverage, you can join us at the $20 level.

You’ll hear testimonies from some of the wonderful women we serve and hear an update on what we’ve been up to over the past year at Casting for Hope. There will also be a silent auction featuring custom items from Avery Knifeworks, beautiful art by Tonja Smith, and more.

Be sure to register promptly at the link below so we can invoice you for your ticket and have a proper headcount for food/beverage ordering. You’ll receive a follow-up email from us later about pickup options.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSepsnFA1PvpIcTc-mrPbSViB1Vjo50CeUHX_WCA_BkZ2_HBsg/viewform

This is the most important fundraising night of the year for us. We thank you in advance for supporting if you’re able and hope you’ll join us for a fun virtual event!
