You can support programs like IRL- take it from former ACS teacher and IRL Service Provider, Rachel Reeser:
“I give to ACSF because I believe in the community that ACSF is continually building and supporting. I am a service provider for IRL, so I am able to witness firsthand the dedication, love and support the IRL team gives to students (pandemic or no pandemic). It is an inspiration to be part of ACSF and to be a part of a community that lifts up and supports middle school students. Additionally, as a past recipient of an ACSF teacher grant, I know that the foundation is bringing meaningful projects and value into the city schools. I am thrilled to support all of their important and ongoing work."

We are happy to get to work with an amazing power house! Congratulations!

We are very proud to present our newest Cougar team member, Shataura Dudley! Ms. Dudley will be our United Way Community School Coordinator and brings with her infectious optimism, enthusiasm, and invaluable connections to our beloved community. She has been working with our students through the United Way and brings a unique vision for our students and families to our school leadership team. Her love for working with kids is very obvious and we are blessed to have her working with us on a daily basis! These connections and qualities will help AMS as we continue our journey to become the best community school in North Carolina. Leave her a warm Cougar welcome in the comments.

Hello, I’m Shataura Dudley. I’d first like to extend a very genuine “Thank You” to United Way and AMS for allowing me to be a part of the team. I look forward to being a link by providing reliable support and resources for students, families, and staff. I’m an Asheville native that has traveled a fair amount of places in life, but you know the saying “There’s no place like home.” True statement. Something about this City tugs at my heart and I don’t plan on going anywhere until my purpose here as been fulfilled.
The past year I have worked for Asheville Housing Authority as a Family Self-Sufficiency Coordinator helping residents/families gain access to the resources they need in order to be as independent as possible. What an amazing opportunity. Throughout my career as an FSS Coordinator, I was blessed to experience several pathways to volunteering in the community such as the Marvelous Math Club, “I Start Fresh”, The Edington Center, and currently I sit as a Board Member for two community organization: the Children First/Community in Schools board and Just Folks board. Within this year, I’ve also volunteered at AMS with Bruce Waller and Mary Stewart. I had a BLAST.
My goal is to be a positive influence, using encouragement and support to guide my work. One major focus will be to continue to create outlets for students to be able to thrive and actually feel as important as they really are. I’m here for you. We can grow together, talk, laugh, cry, build, sing, dance, etc. Whatever is needed to make sure that the school environment is a fun place while learning. Plus my TikTok moves aren’t half bad.
To the faculty and staff, it’s a pleasure to observe your ways of interacting with students as we continue to grow as a family! I’m so excited about this opportunity. Let’s take off and enjoy the days to come.

Woohoo! IRL is launching September 14!

We are currently on the lookout for a kitchen space to host our most popular club- COOKING! Please let us know if you know of a space available. We are so excited for this Fall Session!

We are SO excited to announce that IRL after-school is launching September 14! 🌟 This IRL session will no doubt look and feel different but we are committed to delivering what we promise: in real life experiences that encourage our children to live a curious life. We will offer small group experiences for our middle schoolers during virtual learning and expand into community spaces for programming.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In order to do this, IRL needs your help. Currently, we are looking for a indoor kitchen space to hold our most popular after school club...COOKING! If you are interested, or know of a space available for 8 students to practice their cooking skills, please let us know!! Call the IRL cell phone at 828.747.2247 or send us a direct message🌟
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With CDC guidelines in place and directions from ACS District, our capacity may be limited, but is far from impossible!
