Poke House Portraits

The first house I ever really tried to paint was one that my mother was very sad to be selling. A colleague of mine at the time occasionally painted house portraits on the side for extra income. I always enjoyed getting to see her work. With a bit of her advise along the way, I created my first watercolor house portrait, and gave it to my mom on the day she moved. I could see what this keepsake meant to her. I began to think more about how important it is to hold on to the memories of a place you've called home. I also realized how much I truly enjoyed watercolor painting, but certainly had a lot to learn! I went on to the paint a home that a friend of mine would be moving into with her fiancee, as an engagement gift. Again, I was thrilled with the impact it had when they opened it. The next several houses I painted were all for close friends (and to gain valuable experience). I was certainly feeling great about the house portraits I was creating, now that my painting skills had drastically improved. This was the point when I was asked to start painting house portraits as a service to realtors who were interested in giving an unforgettable gift to clients. I now paint for several realtors as well as a number of homeowners. Every client has come back to order additional paintings and I have a nice little business going that I really enjoy. Every real estate professional I've work with, has really loved my work and attention to detail. Its such a blessing to have the honor to paint so many cherished homes, knowing that families will treasure their artwork as a keepsake for years to come.
