"For my recent move this summer, I used Yelp to help find a well-rated moving company. I drove a 16' truck from Richmond and hired Lamont and his assistant, Andrew, to help with unloading my items into a new apartment, which included going down some steps to my living area. Scheduling a time with Lamont was easy (I called about 2 weeks ahead) and he offered evening weeknight times, which worked well for me. Lamont and Andrew arrived on time, helped unload my car and the moving truck and completed everything in less than 2 hours. They had me stand inside to help direct them and took care to place the items where I wanted them. They even moved furniture around inside the apartment when I changed my mind about the set-up. Both Lamont and Andrew were friendly, very respectful of my items and ensured no damage occurred to items or the house during the move-in process. After moving, they even helped us sweep all the packing peanuts out of the truck so that it was ready to return to the shop that evening. I would recommend Lamont's Small Moves to anyone in the DC area looking for moving help. Their prices are very reasonable and they have the standard 2 hour minimum, plus a small travel fee."

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with other crew members, clients, & move leaders

Must be capable of lifting 50+ pounds

Timeliness and good work ethic

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists/helps with the pick-up (loading), transportation, and delivery (unloading and placement) of household goods/equipment in accordance with established standards and procedures.

Lifting, movement and placement of heavy items by hand or with the assistance of material handling equipment (hand-truck or dolly).

May be required to pack, unpack, and wrap/unwrap household goods items per customer specifications.

Move leaders must have experience loading trucks properly and maneuvering furniture within a home.

"There is a reason Lamont's Small Moves has an A rating already. They should have an A++ rating! I contacted Lamont yesterday to request this last minute move b/c I was leaving town and my friend had to move out of her condo giving me her living room furniture. I knew I couldn't move it so I chose Lamont's Small Moves. The company was already booked til the 17th of the month, but I told him that I needed to have this done by Thursday and he accommodated me and moved it TODAY! The price was soooo reasonable! I was quite surprised when they arrived and had plastic wrapped around the furniture to protect it during the move! I guess I wasn't really expecting all of that, but they set it up where I wanted it. Lamont and Ian were very professional and kind. I appreciate you both for getting this done for me at the last minute! You have excellent customer service skills and wonderful interpersonal skills and you own a company that a lot of people will need at some point in life! My friend and I spoke about how smooth everything went and how we plan to recommend this company as well as use it for any future needs."

"I can't say enough good things about Lamont's Small Moves. I was moving into an apartment, and hadn't even thought about hiring help until it came up as an option when i rented the moving truck. I didn't have a ton of stuff, but there were a couple short flights of stairs so I did a little bit of research and decided to give it a try, since it would be easier and faster than just my friend and I moving everything ourselves.

It was definitely money very well spent. Lamont and his assistant showed up on time, were professional and polite, and worked quickly. It was just starting to rain a little as we were moving in, so he took the initiative to ask what kind of options I had to make sure they could wipe their feet to keep my rugs clean. As we were wrapping up, Lamont asked if I had anything sitting up in the front of the moving truck. I told him I'd take care of it, but he said no problem, I'll go get what's there. Small things like that are examples of the quality of service Lamont provided.
