Sterling, VA – On December 11 and December 18, 2021, the Brothers of Sigma Mu Mu Chapter, Third District of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., volunteered at multiple local community food and toy drive events. Sigma Mu Mu partnered with Christ Redeemer Church for its annual end-of-year food distribution and Christmas tree giveaway program on both dates; the chapter also supported the Burg Family Reunion charity organization’s annual Turkey and Toys giveaway project in Leesburg, VA on December 18. Sigma Mu Mu’s ongoing partnership with Christ Redeemer Church spans more than six years, while the chapter’s support of the Burg Family Reunion is approaching two years.
At the Christ Redeemer Church events, the Brothers helped direct parking lot traffic and provided the manpower needed to load boxes of food into family vehicles. This volunteer service helped ensure event safety and assisted with food delivery to needy families in the community. The Brothers loaded food boxes into at least 40 family vehicles on December 11th and loaded each of 55 to 60 cars with one or two boxes of food on December 18. For the Burg Family Reunion Turkey and Toy giveaway, the Sigma Mu Mu Chapter donated approximately 100 turkeys and 100 toys towards the cause. During a time when the needs of so many are significant, the Brothers always endeavor to provide hope, cheer, and uplift. Sigma Mu Mu’s volunteer “work” continues to have a lasting impact on lives in the community.

The Brothers of Sigma Mu Mu would like to thank everyone who helped us provide Christmas Dinners to families in the Loudoun community via the SHARE Program. It is because of your generosity that we were able to provide 30 full Christmas Dinners to include turkeys, chickens, fish, fruits and vegetables, and all the fixings to families during our annual LINK Christmas food distribution with Christ the Redeemer Church in Sterling Va.
Special thanks to Heritage Fellowship Church for hosting the SHARE program and to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of Herndon for assisting with distribution.
