Happy Pi Day Mr. Voetberg!
Mr. Voetberg was the winner of the ACL Mini-Thon Childhood Cancer Pie-A-Teacher Fundraiser. $1,696 was raised for Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children's Hospital, which provides cost-free care to children with cancer and funds vital, lifesaving research.

Stem Speaker Series - James Mason
Continuing our Stem Speaker Series with James Mason, the Sys Ops Director at the National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO) and the cooperative contracting arm, NASPO Valuepoint. James began his Information Technology career by buying old computer parts and cobbling together PCs for resale. Later that turned in to a computer repair and resale business.
After that James worked as an IT consultant, a college faculty member teaching programming language, IT department manager for the University of Kentucky, and now continuing his career in the non-profit field.

Next up in our Stem Speaker Series is Dr. Stephanie Sharuga. Dr. Sharuga is an interdisciplinary scientist who works for the Federal government Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, which manages U.S. offshore energy and mineral resources. Her love of the ocean and ocean science is contagious and inspired our students to think about a variety of scientific fields in ocean exploration and research.

A significant fundraiser presented by the Academies of Loudoun is the annual Leesburg Car Show. Proceeds from the show directly support our school based student scholarships at the end of the year. If you have not attended in the past, the show is very impressive with over 150 high quality cars on display in Old Town Leesburg.
Volunteer to support the Leesburg Car Show and earn volunteer hours! Duties are light and include tasks such as collecting donations, counting voting ballets, directing patrons, etc.

Join us for Back to School Night on September 1, 2021 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm.
The Academies of Loudoun Open House is on August 24 from 10am – 2 pm. You are invited to walk through the building and locate your classrooms. Maps will be available if needed, and if you do not have your schedule on your phone you can request a printed copy in our student services office (upper level blue commons). The school store will be open if you would like to purchase school spirit wear.
Please note that this is a student-only event and parents will be invited to our Back to School Night on September 1.
