Congratulations to BRHS Boys Cross Country Team Member Tarek Benlamkadden who has had an outstanding 2023 Cross Country season. Tarek kicked off the post season leading the Spartan Boys Cross Country team by becoming the Catoctin District Individual Boys Cross Country Champion in 14:51, securing both the Individual Catoctin Boys Cross Country District Champion title as well as setting a new Broad Run School record!
Advancing to the Region 4C Championship, Tarek became the Region 4C Individual Boys Cross Country Champion at Oatlands.
And rounding out the post season, Tarek crossed the line first (15:33) at the VHSL Class 4 State Championship at Oatlands against a competitive field of runners from across Virginia Class 4 schools.
Congratulations Tarek – tremendous effort and teamwork all season!

It was so nice to see our BRHS families at last nights Winter Sports Parent Night. If you have not yet had the chance to join the Booster Club, here's why you should....

- HUDL (a video tool for game improvement & recruiting videos)
- Field/equipment upgrades
- Facilities enhancements
- Concessions
- awarding Seniors College Scholarships to eligible members (must be in good standing by 1/15/24).. and much more!
We have a goal of 200+ memberships this year. Can you imagine all that we could do to support our student athletes with a community that size?! We thank you in advance for your support! Scan the QR Code below or click here to join: https://broadrunathletics.com/boosters/membership/

Congratulations to the Broad Run Cross Country Boys and Girls State Team members competing at Oatlands. Tarek Benlamkadden led the way as he became the VHSL Class 4 State Champion - a commanding 5k performance in 15:34 in a tremendously challenging course! Kudos Tarek!!
In team competition, the Boys Team finished 8th in the State and the Girls 9th. Great performances overall from every runner- as every finishing place matters in XC scoring.
In addition to XC families along the course with cowbells, Pom poms and outdoor cheering voices- the Broad Run community came out to cheer - thank you to Broad Run friends and coaches from 🏑Field Hockey, 🏀Boys Basketball, ⚽️Girls Soccer, 🏈Football team, 🏃🏾♂️Track and Field runners and Athletics department and Admins. The team appreciated the extra Spartan Spirit.
