Why should I be grateful during this COVID-19 crisis?
It is hard through trials at time to be grateful, but it is a great help to get you through the hard times. Perhaps you could make a list or take magazines with your children and cut out pictures you are thankful for and post them on a board to look at daily. We take so much for granted like our homes, water supplies, food, etc. Now is the time to be grateful.

Recipe for RED KURI SQUASH SOUP
Hi Friends – I wanted to share a delicious and brightly colorful soup with you.
1 RED KURI SQUASH (organic if possible) 2 to 3 pds.
1 quart vegetable stock
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion (preferably yellow)
1 organic sweet apple cored and sliced
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
a pinch of cayenne pepper
1 to 2 teaspoons of salt
½ tsp. freshly ground pepper
Turn oven on to 350 degrees. Split your squash in half and clean the seeds from the center. Take a 9 x 13 dish and put 1 ½ cups of water in it then place the squash skin side down into the water. Bake until the squash is tender.
Clean the squash out from the skin and put into a bowl or container if you want to do this step a day ahead.
In stockpot place the 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add onion and sauté until it begins to brown, about 10-15 mn.
Add apple, cinnamon, cayenne, and a dash of salt and sauté until the apples are soft and lightly browned, about 5-8 minutes.
Now combine your squash and vegetable broth with the above ingredients and use your hand held blender to puree the soup. You may add more stock or water if the soup is too thick.
Season with salt to your taste and serve with ground pepper on top. Serve hot. You may add a dallop of crème francaise on top (totally optional).
This soup is delicious on those chilly fall and winter days as well as stocked with plenty of nutrition!

I hope you had a wonderful summer and that you are gearing up for the new fall classes. I have lots of news to share with you.
First, New Teachers at Joyoga! I would like to introduce two new teachers in the Joyoga Studio. Each has their own business and they will post their classes and pricing on the Joyoga site for now while their sites evolve.
· Vickie Vo is an experienced teacher will be offering two classes for women fighting cancer:
o Deep Healing Yoga and
o Candlelight Yoga
· Mary Gualtieri is another experienced teacher who will be offering prenatal classes.

Second, the class schedule has changed so please check it out at http://www.joyoga.us/calendar/special-events to find out the fall classes offered beginning on September 21. You may register for all classes at Joyoga, however, payment will be made directly to the new teachers for their classes by check made out to their company or you can provide cash.
Third, Specials! We have reduced our unlimited prices so people can come to class more than once a week. (Note, these passes are not used for Yoga 1 or Yoga 1+) However, if you purchase a Yoga 1 or Yoga 1+ as well as an Unlimited Pass for other classes, I will give you 10% off of your Yoga 1 or Yoga 1+ price.
I am also offering Teachers in the public school system, military and students 65 and older our 10 class passes for $100.
Finally, I have posted an article under News about My Journey to share what I just experienced on my first module towards the 500-hour certification at the Himalayan Institute in Pennsylvania. I have been a runner for long time and have dabbled in yoga over the years. After several half-marathons and intensive race training all year last year, I knew I needed to add something to my routine for meditation and stretching. When Joyoga opened here in Ashburn, I was thrilled and jumped right into the beginners classes. My goals were simple – take some me time, begin stretching, and enjoy a consistent yoga practice.
This past weekend, a friend of mine posted the picture on the left from a training run last summer. I had been running a ton (100 miles or so a month) and this was just before my 3rd half marathon. I was SHOCKED to compare that to the picture on the right, taken this past Saturday on a trail run. I have not changed my diet and have actually been running a bit less due to the weather, etc. The ONLY difference is a weekly yoga practice.
Thank you Joyoga for making my life so much better AND for the added benefit of a pre-baby body!!!

The students that have been coming are very dedicated and exciting to work with. I am so thankful for the opportunity to learn from each one of them as they are beginning their own yoga journeys. Different challenges and paths have brought each one to joyoga. We are enjoying building a sense of community here that is uplifting and safe. Recently, I have two seniors who have started a Beginners Class. It is motivating for me to see people come at any age and learn the benefits of yoga in their lives. I am very blessed to meet each one.
