GIRLS DAY

Yesterday we had exclusively a girls outing. Three humans and four dogs took off to explore. Astra, Gypsy, Nyx, and Phoebe got to roam all across fields and creeks, around ponds, and over and under bridges. They played, they heeled, the practiced stay, then played some more. It was great seeing the way dogs are already loving the new location!

We are hard at work getting the dog’s room set up in the new house in anticipation for your pups to come enjoy the backyard.

We may be installing some semi permanent kiddy pools for their summer enjoyment 👀

Grooming is a hands on, invasive procedure that is necessary for health, sanitation, and wellbeing. While some dogs do good with this naturally, it is normal for dogs to need some help learning how to navigate this process.

There are many groomers that will turn biting dogs away, or worse. I love working with the girls at Sommer Dog Salon because they are the ideal groomers. If they see that your dog is stressed of biting, they let you know and refer you to trainers that can help. I’m so happy to be one of the trainers that share clients with their facility.

Pictured above is a series of videos showing Bernie’s grooming progression. At first he was unmanageable. He bit, barked, and stressed the entire time. It was ethically impossible for them to complete the groom and so they reached out. I made progress with Bernie in the comfort of his home, then, thanks to Brooke and Bernie’s owner’s dedication, was able to go up there after hours to practice. Today I accompanied him during a real groom and he was able to go through the entire process with minimal input!

Always choose providers that prioritize your dog’s mental wellbeing and never feel ashamed to reach out for help when your dog is struggling!

We finally got the chance to pop out to !

Listen… if you have time please swing out with your pup. It would be a great trip for a training round. They have wonderful coffee, one of the best cookies I have had in a long time, and plenty of goodies for your pets!

I got Kaydo a dog cookie from their pet bakery and enjoyed a little reading in their environment. If you go take a picture and tag me! I want to see your pup enjoying their treats the way mine did. Bonus tip: they make their own dehydrated treats that are GREAT for training.

SNOW DAY!!!
Some dogs love it, some aren’t a fan. The one in the last picture REALLY didn’t like it 😉

I have had so much fun working with this dog. She is everything you could want in a companion. When her owner requested me to teach her a polite greeting, I was ecstatic! I absolutely love teaching dogs this and the look it puts on people’s faces when they meet her out in public.

Last night we wrapped up the last group class of the season. It’s bitter sweet. Last night we didn’t play games or run drills, we played with our dogs in the park at sunset. No one had a reaction, everyone minded their manners, and the dogs had fun.
