Meet the man who made machines feel human.
Bill Selway, founder of west coast titan Selway Machine Tool, recently passed away. His loss was felt across the industry. Bill spent his life in the machine tools industry and made his mark as humanizing machines. These weren’t boxes of steel to him—they were ways to connect with people and strengthen the American manufacturing scene. His warmth and dedication have set the customer service standard in the industry.
We packed up our beast of a machine, the FH630SX-i 5-Axis, and flew across the country to attend the Legacy Open House in Union City, California. We’re honoring Bill the way he would have wanted: by talking about machine tools and why they matter.

🇨🇦 Lee specialties, a specialized oilfield solutions supplier in Canada, wanted to bring production back in-house. They knew what they needed: heavy pallet weight capacity, large machining work envelope, large tool magazine, and speed.
The order wasn’t too tall for us. The Stock Toyoda FH1250SX Horizontal Machining Center, with its 11k lb. pallet capacity and 120 tool magazine, ticked all the boxes…and then some!
“The most pleasant surprise is the consistency and rigidity of the machine,” said manufacturing supervisor Dave Halladay, finding the machine quickly earned the nickname “Megatron.”
